I was 40 when I went through ADA officer basic in '03, shortly after the movie "Old School" came out. All the other LTs in my class and the instructors called me "Blue". While deployed to Ft. Benning I was entering the DFAC with some of the enlisted guys, a couple of fresh new PVTs were leaving. One of them was so flustered at seeing an officer that he saluted me, forgetting that he was holding an ice cream cone. Smacked himself in the forehead with it. So the guys started calling me LT Dan and when they would see me they would yell out, in best Forrest Gump imitation, "LT Dan, ICE CREAM!!!!!"
