Found out I will be assigned 96TC at Fort Hood after AIT how is it there?

Found out after my AIT at Fort Leonardwood I will be going to Fort Hood assigned to 96TC. Has anyone been apart of that unit and can anyone tell me about it?

What Ltc Burch said is more or less true. The post is the biggest, oconus. Lots of opportunities to get in trouble, even more chances for trouble to find you. Killeen itself blows. If it wasnt for hood the place would still be a bus stop and nothing else. I dont know if III corps is still going crazy, but when I left they had sncos going around after 1700 to make sure everyone gtfo. I remember i used to stay untill 2100 just because the 1sg wanted to. Hours of sitting and staring at the grass. Went on from when i got there till that 1sg left. As tp the TC, I think I heard they are very strict in adherence to the standards, so there is that. Stricter than most infantry units. Just be ready to hate life my man.

Hood itself isn’t horrible, and it’s in an amazing location, just avoid rancier

Was in 96TC for less than 2 years starting in 2008. And 12 months of that was in Camp Taji, Iraq. And most of that time I was actually at Fort Hood I didn't leave base that all since I didn't have a car. That being said, everything you need is on base. Its the biggest base in the US military and possibly the world. Gyms, defacs, and all kinds of other good stuff.

Its a HET unit. HETs are the biggest clunkiest vehicle in the Army. They are awkward and break down a lot.
