Former soldier to lead team of vets to fight Islamic State. Your thoughts?

Rowe has hand-picked a team of veterans that goes by Veterans Against ISIS, many recently out of the military, to return to Iraq to help train and fight alongside local groups to rid the country of the Islamic State group. The team also will provide medical aid and supplies to the local fighters.

It sounds like a nice way to end up getting your throat slit by some Jihadist. I appreciate the idea but in the end it is just plain dumb. Especially since you will have no support or logistics.

SPC Jan Allbright, M.Sc., R.S. I am empathetic to his cause but strongly believe the obligation for defense is our common responsibility (US government and US military).

I would not want a group of Iraqi citizens fighting a group of terrorist in the US on their own rules, no matter how well intentioned.

If they want to support local fighter with medical care or logistics support and not take direct action, I don't see a problem.

I don't see that I can support the logic of a group of US supported/based mercenaries fighting ISIS.

I've got no problem with it. We have the precedent of Americans joining the AVG in China, RCAF and RAF in WWII.

The lack of a logistical tail makes it a dangerous move but it's their lives.

I have been out of the infantry since 1986 5 other brothers served their time one killed in Korea I want to go .Before they come here I will volunteer again
