When this question was proposed to our unit MFT all he stated was that's what they were taught in the class. An FM is a guide, not a reg. You're a Sergeant, can't you research a reg? The reps are based off of whichever phase of PRT your unit/platoon/squad is currently in. No mention is made of having to an even or odd number in between 5-10 reps. As SFC Boyd stated, the fm is just a guide, but you can do however many reps you want. In other words, if you are doing a run day do more reps of rear lunge, high jumper, etc. Just make sure you stay within the 5-10 reps. I have looked in the FM and tried finding where this would be but could not find it. So I figured I would ask. Most units Ive been in do 10 of each for two reasons: 1 because they are in the sustainment phase and 2. uniformity. Even though right now with two different prt uniforms to include the two different colors of socks it's a 1SG's worst nightmare during PRT formation.
