Also i read somewhere that there is no break in service what exactly does that mean like you'll just be going to school while still being in the unit you're currently assigned to? For the AECP, do you need to have an associate degree before you can even consider this option? 2019-08-08T20:08:18-04:00 SGT Private RallyPoint Member 4896313

So for the AECP do you need an associates before you even start? You will attend in active duty status and be assigned to a military treatment facility near your school. That's why the school you choose must be within a certain range of a military treatment facility.
You need to review 2019 aecp announcements, it has all this information in there. You have to be able to complete your nursing degree in 24 calendar months (with a few exceptions).

2) AECP is essential Green-to-Gold but specifically for nursing. You draw E-5 pay (or whatever you enlisted grade was of higher) during your schooling.

3) You will not be kept in your current unit if picked up for AECP. Part of the requirement is that the school you apply to has an ROTC department(they may be able to have an agreement with one but the MILPER will tell you that).

Here’s what you need to do. Google and downloaded the AECP FY20 packet. This packet will outline every single requirement for submitting the packet and getting accepted to the program. You also need to get in contact with an AMEDD recruiter in your area. This recruiter actually submits the packet for you and helps you with other things like finger prints, etc.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
