In the USAF we're required to salute an officer "upon recognition." I will answer with a funny story;<br />While in boot camp say late 1st phase ish, another rec and I were walking by ourselves to medical or something like that. We came upon a parked car with a blue sticker. We had never seen one before, only been taught about them. Both of us stopped shy of it and looked at each other. We couldn't remember if we were suppose to salute it or not. We both decided to walk past it and not salute. looking back on it, I'm not sure why we just didn't salute it and walk on if we had doubt about it. But at least we chose the correct action to take. Just think about what would happen if the spouse saw you fail to render proper honors to their Honda CRV? Is it worth that kind of attention? I don't think so.
