But on a serious note it was a terrible experience. The HHB element had no idea what to do with 150+ personnel they didn't have a month earlier. We went from being amongst infantry and cav to support... No one liked it out at 3 BCT 101. Though I do grant that being with a FA unit does allow for more live fire exercises, it severely decreases overall Warrior Task skills.

Until recently, I have always been assigned to either an infantry line company or infantry HHC. We only had the opportunity to do two or three live fire shoots a year, but we were very proficient in our Warrior Tasks and very capable of supporting our respective maneuver unit. We understood the infantryman's job and how we fit in.
In our new configuration as an all-FiSTer Battery (technically Det 1 HHB) many of the Soldiers are very out of touch with their job and role on the battlefield. It is great to train on our-MOS tasks, but without the constant time with our maneuver element, it is difficult for young guys to understand their place on the battlefield. We have many that are great at the 13F tasks, but lack the skills to be effective while serving with an infantry or cav unit.
