On a more trivial note, here's some Columbia history for you! My father went to the USNR Midshipmen's School in NYC in 1944. Due to the rapid growth of the school, by MAR43, a great deal of the activity and classwork was relocated from an inadequate Navy facility to Columbia University. This photo shows midshipmen playing baseball in the area that is now part of the beautiful College Walk on the Morningside Campus. Low Memorial Library is shown to the right and Earl Hall is the domed building in the center rear with the tower of Riverside Church behind, so the batter is facing almost north-northwest. Although my father played college and pro baseball before entering the Navy, he's not one of those in the photo!
