This is definitely a perfect example of the saying "Discretion is the better part of valor." She clearly had an extremely delusional conception of her boxing abilities. It is an admirable trait to seek out challenges and push one's limits, but it is equally important to have a realistic understanding of one's capabilities.

This was extremely uncomfortable to watch. The ideal of a sporting event is two evenly matched competitors demonstrating excellence throughout the contest. She was completely over-matched and lacked the basic strength and skills to make the event worthwhile. Furthermore, I must acknowledge that watching a man pummel a woman is especially unpleasant. However, as others have stated, she issued the challenge, and she received what she wanted.

As someone who DOES know how to box, she clearly didn't know what she was doing. I would think she would have had the common sense to know what she was doing before talking crap but clearly she didn't. She didn't keep her guard up, and kept getting hit and knocked off balance, she didn't cover herself properly against hits, and lost her balance because she didn't keep her fighting stance. She's lucky she didn't get severely injured. People think boxing is so easy but it is not. It's a combination of a number of things and is harder than it appears. It pisses me off to no end to see foolish people do foolish things like this.

That being said, she at least stepped in the ring. That took guts even if it was false bravado.

Hate to say it, but she got what she asked for. I give her props for making it through that beating, but you don't talk smack unless you know you can give smack. That definitely wasn't a fair fight, however that's what you get when you act that way. Its too bad she couldn't have had better sportsmanship at the end there.
As for the numerous comments that I see floating around here about women in the military: there is a place for us, however its not on the front lines. We may have the heart to fight, but no matter how hard we train, our bodies are not built to handle the kind of physical stress that a man's body can handle.
And finally, the branch comments: we all know that the branches mess with each other. There's nothing like a little tough love and competition to motivate each other to do their best. We all signed that dotted line and we're each trained for the types of situations that our individual branches are most often put into. While some good hearted joking is ok, this is what happens when people take it too far. There's no reason for us to be hating on each other. We're all here for the same reason (or at least I hope we are, cause that college tuition isn't the only reason why someone should be going into the military).

I think everyone is missing the point, the purpose of this event is the release some stuff you have on your mind. Maybe not sure and I dont know for sure , but maybe a Marine or someone in the Infantry did something to her to make her mad. This is a little too much. Girl had guts (if not too much arrogance) and came up short. Now I understand, branches like to crack on each other time to time as I crack on the Marines and Air Force constantly, but when it comes to punches, I'd rather they be behind me whoopin' some ass to cover me while I also kick in some teeth. There's no reason to fight another service member unless they're presenting a clear and present danger to those around them, and even then if at all possible it should be avoided.

As a former qualified US Army Combatives Instructor, a pre-mob instructor (OC/T), Drill Sergeant Candidate and MACP female fighter who just recently got out after totally shredding my shoulder socket (6 screws 3 anchors). I have a few words on this.

I think first of all home girl needs to be given credit for backing her stuff up. She might have lost but she put her money where her mouth was and fought. I didn't see any other females standing up in the crowd with that kind of courage. I believe she has more courage than all of the guys who did or didn't have the courage to step in the ring, because she knew she was going to be the butt of everyone's jokes and she did for herself and did it anyway that is PERSONAL COURAGE! And there are still some soldiers who believe in the Army Core Values.

As someone who has had to fight males in the Army due to there being no female fighters the weight pairing was ill suited if the Marines didn't want bad press, They should have paired the weight class a little more evenly (I understand she said what she said but there are still rules in sport for reasons) so someone didn't potentially die from something that was meant to be for fun. A almost 220 pound guy? Come on I am 5'10" and weight 197lbs I ran a 17:30 2 mile, did 75 sit ups and 45 push ups for my AFPT and I've been doing martial arts since I was 4. I'm a strong ass girl and that would have still been a stretch for me in a fight. As well trained as I am with a 10-0-0 record vs women, that just wasn't a fair boxing match. I don't think the Marine who fought her is at fault. If she wants to hang with the boys and box with big men she got a swift understanding that the enemy might be big and it will be like this in close quarters combat. He might be bigger and you might get your butt kicked, HARD but you keep fighting. She however should have turned around and shook his hand after the fight, that was bad form on her part.
However the response to this by some military members is appalling. You should all be careful what crap you post online because social media is a monster and it ruins careers. Let us not forget you have your name and rank on here and it isn't hard to find a person's unit or government job affiliation. Even more so with the draw down you never know who is on here... ;)

I do believe that a females body was not made to endure the beating it would get if we had an Infantry MOS but.....there are some females that are in the Military that can handle it. Soap Box Out:
I'm sorry but women vs men in competitive sports is not fair (Unless you’re Floyd Merriweather).
Most of us, buy us I mean military and prior military not the common man (and I’m sure this Marine only did it begrudgingly) , come from a background where you would never hit a woman and if you did you’re your father, brothers, cousins, friends, enemies, and strangers would all beat you senseless.
Note I said most of us there are A$$holes out there that for some reason think its ok (hey again like Floyd Merriweather.)
This makes competitive sports and contact sports an issue.
For Example:
When my son was 16 years old they put a girl on the wrestling team at another school in the district who was in his weight class. Every match when he had to wrestle her he would just reach down and “tap out” as soon as the time started.
It was not that he did not think “women were capable” or “blah blah cliche here” it was just simply that he was not going hit a girl or take a chance of hurting her.
Sad thing is this girl ended up winning her division for the district, because every other boy at every other school felt the same way….they would not hit a girl and did not want to take a chance of hurting her…..so of course the paper makes a big deal of the “first female to win her weight class…blah blah blah,” and I’m sure it looked good on a college application but the reality is she showed-up and did nothing. And yes technically she won….but come on…..how this is fair to the young men.
Of course all the women out there are saying “Bullshit they are afraid of losing to a girl blah blah blah.” To that I say maybe, but I doubt it. There was a time when the entire country respected woman too much to even consider putting them is a situation where harm could come to them. Sadly is seems that is no longer the issue…..and I’m sorry but in my opinion that is not progress.
Woman are perfectly capable of doing anything they train, work, and educate themselves for but they are not to be “knocked” around in the name of contact sports or training.
Now don’t get me wrong if a women is coming at us with the intent to hurt or kill us both my son and I (and I’m sure all those other boys) will defend ourselves……and may very well get out asses handed to us…...but to do it in the name of “sports” or “training” is not right.
Call me chauvinistic or what you will……maybe I live in a dream land or a bubble I don’t know…….but I will say this prior to trying to tell and teach boys that girls were equal and it was ok to go “100%” against them in contact sports and training there sure seemed to be a lot less abuse cases on the news.

This obviously needed to happen. Someone needed to step up to her challenge. I believe she had a leadership issue and has quite possibly been tainting the other branches in front of her subordinates instead of educating them on everyone's mission and strengths regardless of gender. Interservice sports for fun are healthy but this takes the cake. I hope her attitude has changed and becomes a more effective leader and example.

If he decided to put her in her place, he could have had the decency to not allow his arm be raised. The TKO said enough. And if she has the fortitude to step so far ahead of her level, she could at least have the respect to touch gloves after the fight when he tried to give her respect for stepping in to that situation voluntarily.

This was a prime example of why our military has tried to protect the genders from each other. And I'm not saying it as a blanket statement, I'm sure Ronda Rouse could make her way through the majority of our infantry training, and one-on-one with most grunts, but she is also expressly aware of the biomechanical differences between men and women, something that has been thrown to the wayside in the current fight for gender equality.

Marine vs Army is irrelevant here. This is a simple case of when that bullshit ideology that there is no biological difference between men and women meets reality. If she wasn't smart enough to know what was going to happen, her buddies should have been.
