I didn't see any hecklers or people inappropriately protesting or throwing shoes (which cannot be said of other speeches made by other presidients). If he got a tepid response to his talking points, then maybe it's because they were not in agreement with his policy. That should be an indicator to the POTUS and his staff that maybe he needs to reassess what the wants to do....or not.... Our politicians all seem to EXPECT applause whenever they pause for a second. Not getting it isn't disrespect, but then, I'm not a big believer in adoration-on-demand. SGT Richard H. While the active duty military has to give the HOOAH on demand - these men and women of the American Legion and other VeteranService Organizations have no such requirement. Veteran Service Organization (VSO) speak for our military on active duty when they cannot - so it's important to speak out to these VSO's so they are aware of how our military brethren feel on subjects near and dear to your hearts. My only concern is that the respectful silence and the tepid clapping message is understood in both ears by the CinC. They were not rude, didn't interrupt with rants or shouts, and actually showed more restraint then I believe they wanted to. What he got was a "present for duty" snapshot of what those Veterans felt and thought about what he had to say! Why would they want him to think they support what he has to say, when they didn't! ....they maintained their integrity, in the face of the President. Job well done. 1SG Private RallyPoint Member Wed, 27 Aug 2014 20:39:37 -0400 2014-08-27T20:39:37-04:00 Response by Cpl Private RallyPoint Member made Aug 27 at 2014 9:17 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/fair-or-foul?n=219825&urlhash=219825 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Respect is earned. I felt that they kept their words and all thoughts to themselves. I heard all kind comments from the press and people, President was and still is today a icon and hero and a legend the the black community. I believe he should be put in the Guinness of World Records. All in all he did lead this country because all the mess that was left from the previous President he still hung in there whether the people liked him, loved him or whatever. Al in all their was somewhat a trite respect. SPC EOTrees Myles Mon, 13 Jun 2022 20:52:52 -0400 2022-06-13T20:52:52-04:00 2014-08-27T17:08:41-04:00
