Should Combat Engineers have a Expert Engineer Badge like the Infantry and the 68 Series?

This is an interesting concept. It's kind of like having the different levels of recruiter, EOD, and parachutist badges.

I think Sapper tab is enough. It shows you're an expert in your field and that you're a specialized kind of engineer.

While that would be nice, I am feeling that the Sapper tab is enough for Engineers. Its a tough tab to get in the first place.

The Air Force, in an effort to make everyone feel important (Just my opinion) instituted skill badges for nearly every AFSC (MOS for you non-AF troops! LOL) in the book. As a career field that already had a badge/pin, and a joint service one at that, we lost some of the eliteness (nope. Not a real word :-) feel that came with earning a badge after a hard 6-8 month tech school. I know this attitude will be unpopular with most of you, but how would you folks of other services feel if everyone had a MOS specific badge. So where do you draw the line? Who does and/or does not deserve a skill badge? Perhaps I should start a poll.

How many folks get Sapper slots? Hmmm infantry has both. I liked it cuz we are diverse more than infantry and medics if you think about it, besides promotion rates are going to slow down and the EEB events would have to be on a UTP!

I think the Sapper tab is prestigious enough, and if you need something to prove you saw combat there is a CAB.

As many have said, the Sapper Tab is there for grabs, but the concept is appealing as an Infantryman will get his EIB for performance and knowledge and wear it proudly until he gets his CIB.

If there is one thing that the Army doesn't need more of, it is badges.
The proliferation of them lately has been robust.
As stated by others, the Sapper Tab fulfils this role nicely, and from what I understand it is a real challenging course required to earn it.
