Ever worked 1/2-day Friday then attended a Company beer bust @ the unit for the remaining of the day?

Was a common practice for units to have a beer bust on Friday afternoon to build comradery and relax from the weeks labor.

We had range parties at Ft.Polk La. our NCOIC actually lived in Louisiana and had a hunting,fishing cabin not far from the post,this was of course back in the day when alcohol was the drug of choice in the U.S.Army,also when this northern boy got his introduction to deep fried rattle snake,gator and other Louisiana delicacies,and all those old Army drinking games.

When I was a PVT at Hunter Liggett, then the Army of Excellence hit and that was the end of alcohol at unit BBQs
