I remembered seeing a story in the week after 9/11 about the dogs. About what walking across the debris field was doing to their paws, about the effect of not finding living survivors had on them, about the long hours each dog put in. Today I looked them up to see if there were any stories. I found this one about the last living 9/11 rescue dog. <a target="_blank" href="http://www.boredpanda.com/last-9-11-rescue-dog-birthday-party-new-york-bretagne-denise-corliss/">http://www.boredpanda.com/last-9-11-rescue-dog-birthday-party-new-york-bretagne-denise-corliss/</a> <div class="pta-link-card answers-template-image type-default"> <div class="pta-link-card-picture"> <img src="https://d26horl2n8pviu.cloudfront.net/link_data_pictures/images/000/021/928/qrc/last-9-11-rescue-dog-birthday-party-new-york-bretagne-denise-corliss-fb.jpg?1443054353"> </div> <div class="pta-link-card-content"> <p class="pta-link-card-title"> <a target="blank" href="http://www.boredpanda.com/last-9-11-rescue-dog-birthday-party-new-york-bretagne-denise-corliss/">Last Living 9/11 Rescue Dog Honored With Epic Sweet 16 Birthday Party</a> </p> <p class="pta-link-card-description">Bretagne, a sagely old Golden Retriever who was one of the first responders tasked with searching for survivors in the rubble after 9/11, received a hero&#39;s welcome when she arrived in New York to celebrate her 16th birthday.</p> </div> <div class="clearfix"></div> </div> Ever think about the heroic dogs of 9/11? 2015-09-12T01:16:45-04:00 CPT Private RallyPoint Member 960483 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I have great respect and admiration for K-9 handlers and their service dogs.
