PO2 Rocky Kleeger118073<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>There have been a few discussions, as of late, about ethnicity in the military. I'm not sure about other branches, but neither the Marine Corps, nor the Navy have special regs for different ethnic backgrounds. I know of no regulation that says if you're a certain ethnicity, then this regulation doesn't apply to you. <br /><br />One night, I was on watch as the ASDO (Assistant Squadron Duty Officer), I went down to check on my flight deck and hangar watches, and one of them had his cover on crooked and one pant leg pulled up. When I told him to fix his uniform, I was informed that wearing clothing this was was a (no kidding) "black thing". I told him I didn't care what kind of thing it was, either he fixes his uniform or I write him up for being out of uniform for watch.<br /><br />You thoughts? And it doesn't have to be about uniformsEthnicity in the military.2014-05-03T21:14:56-04:00PO2 Rocky Kleeger118073<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>There have been a few discussions, as of late, about ethnicity in the military. I don't have special privileges to wear the uniform in some other fashion than the rest of the Army. I wear mine according to the regulations and always will. I seen Soldiers do that before as a joke and the 1SG took care of that quickly.Response by CPT Jacob Swartout made May 3 at 2014 9:22 PM2014-05-03T21:22:48-04:002014-05-03T21:22:48-04:00CPT Jacob Swartout118110<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>PO2 Kleeger, <br />Good job enforcing the standards, the military needs strong leaders in all branches to maintain high level of discipline and to keep the wrong impression out of the public eye.Response by CPT Jacob Swartout made May 3 at 2014 10:12 PM2014-05-03T22:12:18-04:002014-05-03T22:12:18-04:00PO2 Rocky Kleeger118692<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>SFC Smith: I am curious as to why you voted this question down.Response by PO2 Rocky Kleeger made May 4 at 2014 8:18 PM2014-05-04T20:18:00-04:002014-05-04T20:18:00-04:00MSG Private RallyPoint Member118704<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Rules and regulations apply to everyone...it's a military thing. You are always going to have that guy that wants to push the standard for whatever the reason. Usually I tell them if they don't like the regulation they can suggest an edit but until it changes we are going to do things the Army way. Way to go on enforcing the standard!Response by MSG Private RallyPoint Member made May 4 at 2014 8:32 PM2014-05-04T20:32:25-04:002014-05-04T20:32:25-04:00PO1 William "Chip" Nagel118753<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Speaking of Ethnicity and Culture, why the hell does it take more than 30 days continuous underway time before they fly out some beer? The Army said no and we had some protestors at the gate for a week or two. <br /> The soldier was given a discharge and released from service and that was that. <br /> The soldier was a mechanic and the fear was the head dress limited her vision, and was at risk for getting caught in the moving parts of a vehicle.<br /><br /> Now we have the issue with hair styles for woman in the Army and are they targeting black or ethic woman. <br />I get the hair type for some woman is more difficult to control or style but the standard is what it is, find a hair product to control the hair and file a change to regulation request with the problems you have in meeting the standards. Don't first assume this is a ethic or EO issue.Response by SFC Matthew Parker made May 5 at 2014 8:29 PM2014-05-05T20:29:19-04:002014-05-05T20:29:19-04:002014-05-03T21:14:56-04:00
