E-5 USMC 1391 transferring to the Army as either a 13F or 92F. Any first hand experience as to best duty stations?

92F's spend most of their time sitting in a motorpool doing administrative work. 13F's spend a lot of time in the field training. Its really what you want to do. As far as insight into the best duty stations, you have absolutely ZERO input into the duty station you get. You are needs of the Army and they will send you where they need you.

If you're getting training you generally will not get a duty station of choice. When you reenlist down the road you might. Of course, by the time you're eligible to reenlist you might already be pulled onto recruiting since you're already a SGT.

I'm an old, and I mean old 13F I was enlisted when the the new MOS came about. I spent 10 years as a 13F20, 30, and 40 before I went Warrant Officer. It was a great MOS in my time. Yes, it had a lot of field time. However, the things you did were varied. We called for fire, ran CAS and naval gunfire missions. as a senior NCO I was a Platoon SGT, served as a Senior Drill Sergeant, and as a brigade operations sergeant. I was on the E8 list when I was selected for warrant officer as a target acquisition technician. I enjoyed my time as a warrant officer. The 13F MOS fed into the 131A field that's why I had the chance to be a WO. I can honestly say as a young troop, I had a a blast as a 13F and a lot of opportunity to excel.

You can’t choose your duty station if you are going back to school (AIT). Although, one of the best duty stations would be JBLM.

If you have any choice in the matter, which i Doubt. Don't go to Drum unless you want to deploy really badly. And Lewis is over-rated and kinda sucks tbh. Try Carson I hear its nice, though thats what they said about lewis.

92F, would depend on the unit you are in, most of the pipeline and Terminal ops are in the Reserves, so in most cases a 92F may be assigned to an aviation unit, just depends.
