Dog owners, what hotel chains are the most “pet friendly”?

We’re about to PCS with a lab (slightly less than 70 pounds) and a Japanese chin (around 10-12 pounds). We’ll probably probably spread the trip over a few days. Lots of places seem to have substantial pet fees of $25 or more per night per pet. I’m hoping to find some places with no or low pet fees. So far it seems like Motel 6 is the way to go. They don’t charge for their regular Motel 6s and only charge 10 bucks per night for their extended stay type places. Unfortunately they don’t have properties in some of the areas where we’re planning on stopping.

I usually stay in the Candlewood Suites. They are on or near a lot Army installations.

La Quinta Inns and Suites are huge fans of pets! I worked for them for 13 years and still suggest my animal traveling friends to stay there. No extra charge, and discounts for your stay, from military to AAA to Senior.

I ALWAYS use LaQuinta. They have a special military program and you can always take your pets with no charge. They are the most pet friendly hotels that I have used, and they are nation wide.

La Quinta is one of the best that will give your dog a spot to stay for free. Just acknowledge the dog and they will take care of the rest.

CPT Private RallyPoint Member, If you do take your dogs to a hotel, please for the love of all that is good make sure they aren't the kind that bark or whine randomly when you aren't around.
I stayed in a holiday inn, and the room next to me had a pet that was barking nonstop. Management could not get a hold of the owners.

When traveling with pets, my family also mostly uses La Quinta.

There are nice hotels that allow animals, but they also usually charge more, like Residence Inn.

La Quinta is pet friendly as well. We use them a lot.
