They need revenue to pay for content and broadcasting. It's really simple. Advertisers have been paying for all of that these many years. To be honest, I've been fast forwarding through commercials, too and enjoying my favorite programs without paying for them. It's not much different than pirating music on the Internet if you stop to think about it. Fortunately, I have an option that allows me to sleep at night with a clear conscience. I subscribe to Hulu, Netflix, and Acorn TV which provide me with commercial free programming. The cost is minimal and I don't even have to exercise my remote (except to pause for potty breaks). I just sit back and enjoy.Response by CPT Jack Durish made Jun 16 at 2016 8:55 PM2016-06-16T20:55:52-04:002016-06-16T20:55:52-04:00SGT Private RallyPoint Member1637791<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Only on movies I rent, <a class="dark-link bold-link" role="profile-hover" data-qtip-container="body" data-id="305380" data-source-page-controller="question_response_contents" href="/profiles/305380-csm-charles-hayden">CSM Charles Hayden</a> .Response by SGT Private RallyPoint Member made Jun 16 at 2016 9:01 PM2016-06-16T21:01:40-04:002016-06-16T21:01:40-04:00MSgt John McGowan1637793<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>CSM If O'Reilly is a recording that isn't on a DVR it would not fast forward. We no longer watch anything 'live' but either record & let it get 15 minutes ahead before starting, or wait til the next day. This way we don't have to watch or listen to any of the ads on adult diapers, hearing aids, dietary supplements, senior vitamins, dentu cream, anti-diarrhea pills, bowel-gas calming pills, diabetic itch & psoriasis creams, arousal aids, etc. We were beginning to feel like a target audience of some sort.Response by Capt Tom Brown made Jun 16 at 2016 9:14 PM2016-06-16T21:14:56-04:002016-06-16T21:14:56-04:00SN Greg Wright1637844<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>This is why I download my tv.Response by SN Greg Wright made Jun 16 at 2016 9:25 PM2016-06-16T21:25:20-04:002016-06-16T21:25:20-04:00SGM Private RallyPoint Member1638597<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>My Verizon FIOS service doesn't do that with any recordings at all. In fact, they just started a new feature a few weeks ago that lets me hit a green button on my remote at the start of a commercial break and it immediately takes me to the end of the commercial break! Saves all the FF or 30 sec. jumps to get through them. It even shows me on the channel guide which shows have the feature turned on. There are still a few shows that apparently don't allow it, so I still have to jump or FF through those breaks, and THAT drives me nuts! If I couldn't even do that, I'd really go ballistic!!Response by SGM Private RallyPoint Member made Jun 17 at 2016 3:47 AM2016-06-17T03:47:30-04:002016-06-17T03:47:30-04:00LCDR Rabbah Rona Matlow1638875<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>We have Commiecrap and there is a skip forward function on the remote.
