Lennon was an edgy guy from the poor side of Liverpool, England. He was irreverent and made fun of just about anyone and anything. I am a big Beatles fan but I try to separate artists from their politics because most are lefties. Lennon (and McCartney) also wrote some of the most classic music of their age. I think I can give him a pass on this.

No; I've always thought of him (not to mention most entertainers) as a "product"...not a philosopher.
