Does prior service time continue once a new contract is signed? Can I wear all my previous awards, strips, and bars on my new ASUs?

I guess what im really asking is does prior service time continue once a new contract is signed? can i wear all my previous awards, strips, and bars on my new ASUs? rejoining the army Guard.

Yes, regardless of a break in service you still put in that time and earned those awards.

Yes, you can as long as such were awarded to you or were awarded to the unit while you served with them. Awards and the like always follow you, unit to unit, enlistment to enlistment so long as you are in the same branch. There are some variations should you change service.

All awards are valid to wear so long as they are in your 2A and per your branch's uniform manual regardless of when earned. There are some restrictions though i.e. state national guard awards cannot be worn on active component uniform (Army). Only your current rank can be worn though.

I was considered prior service which I found odd at the time because I was in the Army Reserves then switched over to Active Duty less than a year later. Everything carried over because there was no break in service so prior service seemed odd since it was not a full six-year term in Reserves.
Just make sure you have all documentation to prove prior service. Mine was excluded after I was discharged because somebody goofed and left out my Reserve time which also included BCT and AIT plus all those months of drills. The Army also deducted all my Reserve and training pay for some reason even though I attended all drills and the training. That never made any sense to me.

You can wear the ribbons that are on you DD 214 but no unit type insignia. When in doubt c AR 670-1.

Stripes depend on your contract. What makes you a prior service is that you spent 180 days of active duty. You always be considered prior service and never stopped or started. The only thing that stop was your time and service and your pay. Your recruiter should be telling you all of this all your unit administrator. Use your chain of command use your system you should have a sponsor

It should, when I enlisted in the Marine Corps after my time in the Army, my time of service and most of my service awards transfer over, Good Cookie, Overseas and achievement award... how ever I drop two ranks, but grained it back at the same pace that as a enlisted who signed up for a six year contract..... At the end, my prior service and all awards and honor show up on the DD 214
