SGT Private RallyPoint Member6249444

I have been serving in the Active Army for 9 years and a SGT (P) for about 5 years sitting at 730+ points with ALC. I reenlisted from a 91C (Utilities Equipment Repairer) into a 14E (Patriot Fire Control Enhanced Operator/Maintainer) with an upcoming class date. I would like to know if my ALC completed at the Ordnance school would still fulfill the STEP requirement for promotion upon completion of the new MOS or if I have to attend ALC again for the new MOS?

I referenced AR 600-8-19 chapters 1-29 and 1-33 and it seemed like I would be able to promote, but would like to see if anyone else has experienced a similar situation.

I understand it is critical to be technically proficient at one's MOS, but I want to serve the Army at a higher level of capacity and responsibility, especially with the TIS I have. It is in my character and value set to do what it takes to become proficient in the MOS. I believe that an NCOs role does not change regardless of rank or MOS; Training, mentoring, leading, and taking care of Soldiers. Any thoughts or insights would be helpful! TIA!Does previous ALC count towards the award of new MOS after reclassification?2020-08-27T03:15:07-04:00SGT Private RallyPoint Member6249444

I have been serving in the Active Army for 9 years and a SGT (P) for about 5 years sitting at 730+ points with ALC. If you don’t, then reclass, you must complete ALC for your new MOSResponse by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Aug 27 at 2020 3:18 AM2020-08-27T03:18:52-04:002020-08-27T03:18:52-04:002020-08-27T03:15:07-04:00
