Does Liberal Academia and the Media, in unison, Create an Illusion for America?

Yes, most of what they inculcate into our kids are fairy tales and when they finally grow up and get a job at the nearest barista, real life will hit them square in the face. Time to see what taxes are to pay for all the liberal largesse.

First I would question the notion of liberal Academia... I've had both liberal and conservative professors and at least in my own experience, don't believe the political leanings of my professors have had any significant impact on my own views with a single exception. That exception was created because I was studying the history of central and south American nations and began learning things that upended my perception that US occupation and involvement in the region was for the most part... benign. Unfortunately the objective study of history will often destroy both Conservative and Liberal myths about power and the role of US power in the world.

Liberal myths about socialist revolutions are as subject to objective criticism as fascist dictatorships. For that reason, I believe it would make a lot more sense to frame Academia as moderate. Then there is the question about who gets to frame the perspective of most Americans... do Americans really listen to Academia or are they listening to entertainment media? The chasm between peer reviewed science on most issues and whats being reported in the media is often substantial... and IMO at least, the illusion isn't being created by Academia.

I don't know if you would call it an illusion,but I do know in my case we sent a daughter off to Columbia University back in the 90sand what we got back was a very liberal young lady who now does not see any other way but the ultra liberal views of the Democractic party,Public Broadcasting,NPR and the like,being a Vietnam vet I've found it very hard to come to any kind of middle ground with her and usually avoid politics entirely.

A few decades ago Apple donated thousands of computers to elementary schools. It was an investment in the future. When those children grew up they were die hard Apple fans. They clung to Apple like cult members cling to their dogma. I never wasted time trying to dissuade them (and I can imagine that some will respond here castigating me for even inferring that there is something I might have said to turn them from their beliefs). The Progressive Movement likewise infiltrated our schools first. Modern journalists and teachers are the product of that academic environment and indoctrination has now replaced education in America's classrooms.
