Back then there was more disrespect of flag and country than seems to be prevalent now. I am glad that by and large there is more respect for our nation and the military service members than prior to 9/11/2001.

It is actually one of my biggest pet peeves... the stadium announcer even mentions the appropriate etiquette: "Ladies and Gentlemen, please rise and remove your hats for the playing of our National Anthem."
