Does it matter to you who is running the VA?

The Veterans Administration is a large, complex government agency providing all sorts of services to those who honorably served our country. Does it matter to those of us served by the VA? Of course it does. But where would a person capable of running a large bureaucracy providing health and financial services come from? FWIW, I believe that person could come from a large successful organization which does provide services to veterans across a number of disciplines similar to those provided by the VA. Like the CEO of an organization like USAA. What we do not need is a physician whose qualifications consist of a pleasing TV personality and sticking his finger in the president's butt once a year.

The only thing to my mind is whoever runs it, understands us and will run it like a business- where employees are accountable!

Since I do not use them for anything anymore, I really don't care who "runs" it. It will always be hit or miss depending on the local offices/hospitals. Who the secretary is, doesn't much matter.

As long as the person does a good job I couldn't care less who runs the VA.

Nope, and I work there.
Key policies are set and funded by Congress.
Priorities and initiatives are set by the various agencies within VA, and approved by the Secretary.
Who that Secretary is matters much less than what those priorities are.

History has shown us that no individual can properly manage this huge organization, with its own deep state. We need to devolve most of the VA activities and focus on what it was originally intended to do.

Absolutely. They should be qualified in not only health care administration but corporate leadership and government affairs.
