Does it bother anyone when folks say "Murica", or "Merica" instead of America?

I have seen people state this on other social media sites as a point of emphasis to their statement or belief. IMO, I think this is a tad bit lazy and disrespectful. I live in, fight for, and will die in America. I know it's a form of slang, but really?

It is irritating, but it is free speech. I usually only encounter it in internet memes or sarcastic comments on friends facebook page. I judge it by that, so I don't take offence to it.

I get a bit pissed when people say "America" when they are referencing the USofA.
I didn't fight for "America" .. I fought for the Constitution of the United States of America.
If you want to fight for "America" move to Canada or Mexico.

It's not the same thing. America is a landmass broken down into North, Central and South. "Muricuh!" Is a sarcastic reference to a form of hyper nationalism that seems to be sweeping the nation. One is a continent, the other is a reference to a societal ill.

I think it arose as a way to verbalize the divide between Americans. Right or wrong, many people hate what America seems to be turning into, with the media, school systems and pop culture. The term 'Murica' simply refers to a gun loving, traditionally conservative freedom that is being taken from us every day as the media brainwashes us into focusing on their agenda. This is how I see it, and often find it also rooted in a sense of humor that is necessary in order to maintain one's sanity.

It’s more often due to a heavy accent than disrespect!!!! I’m not very tolerant in many areas, but I honestly believe that most mean no ill intent. To me….if you are legally in this country (different subject matter) than welcome, because you came here the right way. Therefore, if you did not break the law coming here, you just might obey all U.S. laws. It’s a little bit apples and oranges here, so to be more clear is does not generally upset me, as I know that some foreign accents are hard to lose and often requires speech therapy to remove.

Maybe it's a generational thing. No Disrespect but the only ones who find the Term "Murica" are from an older generation. Me being a Milennial I don't find it offensive, and sometimes downright comical.

I know a retired Ranger Instructor who was part of standing up 3rd Ranger Battalion. He always got after the Bat boys for say they were from "Bat." He always asked em "Why do you call your battalion and Bat? You wouldn't call your country a c&&t?" That usually changed their vernacular.
