Does an ETS physical limit you from doing PT/FTXs? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/does-ets-physical-limit-you-from-doing-pt-ftxs

I have seen this question asked multiple times and each time I have seen conflicting answers. Most say there isn't a limitation and you do everything until you get the clearing papers. When doing a quick Google, that's what I get as well. From my understanding, everything is "commander's discretion". So, what is the actual answer and what typically happens in yalls experience? The separation physical is to ensure everything about you medical history, medical concerns and current health are accurately documented in your records.

If anything happens after the physical, it is handled the same way as it is normally. Go to sick call and get evaluated.

If something 'lasting' occurred and in the provider's opinion it would prevent them from meeting the standards of medical fitness (remember, for the majority of Soldiers, they won't have met their 8 year MSO yet), they would be referred for evaluation. If that ends up with a Soldier requiring entry into the DES, then the Soldier would have their ETS extended.

Some units won't require it because of related items and they don't want the possible administrative headaches involved, but that is the local commander's call, not something they are required to do by Army regulations or policy.

The barracks lawyers will tell you that you don't have to do PT, but as with almost all advice given by them, it's more of a 'wish' than it is something based in fact.
