There was a case somewhat similar to that when I was at Homestead AFB in 1971. A couple of perps had attacked and robbed some people near a mall, and fled south on Allapattah Road with police in hot pursuit. In an attempt to ditch the police they took a side road into the swamp near the Mangrove Preserve but came to a dead end, and they bailed out into the swamp on foot. The police just sat there and waited for a few hours until they came straggling back out so covered in mosquito bites that they had to be hospitalized. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer couple of guys.
