Does being an 11B have anything to do with getting picked up for AGR program? Do certain MOS's have a better chance of being selected?

I am a SSG in the Army Reserve and I have applied to the AGR program twice. I have never been picked up. Does being an 11B have anything to do with this? Are there certain MOS's that have a better chance of being selected?

Do you have a secondary MOS? Are you willing to reclass? Sometimes that helps. I thought only the Guard, not the Reserves had 11B? That could be an issue if there is no where to put you. However, being an 11B I would think that might be a good opportunity to serve as an instructor at an NCO Academy. That is how I got into the AGR program. Certain MOS's do have an advantage such as 42A (Human Resources). Since they combine so many admin MOS's into one they a dime a dozen and there are plenty of places for them to be stationed. I would try to find someone that might be able to answer questions for you or give insight as to your options. I wish you the best and hope you get it, it was a great career move for me.

I went over to the reserve in 2006 and became a Drill Sergeant, that is why I never had to reclass.

I would not believe it does. I have interviewed for 3 AGR jobs, one of which I was the only person MOSQed for and was never picked. A lot of it depends on how you interview and your record more than anything.
