If worn, ankle-length socks must cover the entire ankle bone. Shoes must accommodate all five toes in one compartment. That said, it's called uniformed services for a reason. If no one else is wearing them, I'd advise against it. If you do see them being worn by others for PT and your commander has authorized them, go for it... just understand that a change in your chain of command could alter your ability to wear them for PT.
