Does anyone know of part time jobs available in the Watertown, NY area?

I am looking to supplement my income once I arrive at Fort Drum in January. Does anyone know of specific part-time jobs available in the area?

Wouldn't your command have to approve any sort of secondary employment prior to starting anything?

I know that if you go to a BCT you probably won't have time for a second job.

Pretty much turn around is there. but the problem would be finding a place that will accommodate your schedule.

SGT Cole, I am doubtful you'd find the time. Our optempo is unlike most other conventional units. We have a brigade forward deployed, some units getting ready to head over as well and all the while supporting training back home and tying in with our units forward. In short, you will be very busy in garrison. If you are still determined to find something there are stores that always have openings.

I used to be the sales manager at the best buy in Watertown. We employed a lot of soldiers (& their spouses). I'm pretty sure you have to okay it with your unit but we had no problem working around a soldiers schedule.

SGT Jessica Cole, Do a drive there recon before accepting any position near Ft Drum. I recall difficulties entering post from different directions.

If you are willing to think outside of traditional employment then there are numerous options that you can look into. Online jobs, network marketing and so on. These are also options that are portable and as long as you can access the internet you can work your business or job. There are many legit opportunities however like everything else there are some scams out there. So if you look into this option just verify the company and be sure it is allowed by your command.

There are a LOT of fast food and retail jobs in the area.... Born and raised in Watertown. I can't really say I miss it but I worked at Price Chopper and Burger King and they were pretty good with hours/schedule.

Jefferson and St. Lawrence Counties have high unemployment rates. Finding a job may be difficult, but remember that you need permission from your Commander to seek and accept part-time employment.
