Does anyone know how to get a recommendation from a warrant officer to go warrant officer?

Been trying to get everything for a packet this is the only thing i'm not sure about because i don't know any.

SPC Day, Seeing that you are an Infantryman you would have to apply to a non-feeder MOS. There are three that I know of, two of which you will need some previous experience. Rotary Wing Aviator, which requires no previous experience. Information Services Technician and Network Management Technician, which both require background experience.

I'm assuming your National Guard unit has aviation assets, if not locally, you will have them somewhere in your state. I would use the global email search or ako white pages to find a senior aviator from your state. Once you find someone accessible to you, write them a formal email requesting your intentions of becoming a warrant officer and if they would give you an opportunity for an interview. Based on the outcome of that interview it will make it easier to create a letter of recommendation for you.

Prior to asking anyone for a letter of recommendation you should have the majority of your application and resume complete. This serves two purposes, it shows you have the initiative to actually apply, and the resume gives your commanders an idea of your experience and potential to be a warrant officer.

From my experience the most challenging part of becoming a warrant officer was assembling the application. Plan ahead, look at the current board schedule for your MOS, and start your physical now.

You find a warrant officer in that field and approach. Let them know that you would like to submitt a packet and if it was not too much troubl eto write you a letter of Rec--too easy!!

You just ask someone you admire. If you are in the situation I was in where I didn't work with a single WO in the unit, contact the senior WO either in your unit or on the post and ask for their help. That's what I had to do when I was stationed at MacDill AFB. I got a hold of a CW5 who interviewed me and connected me with a CW3. I met with him, he interviewed me, took my packet, and asked for a week to review my packet and military history. I didn't know it at the time but he also went around asking what the folks I worked with thought of me. It was thorough and I got the LoR. Sometimes, that's what you need to do. Also, you can only use a recommendation from a CW3 or higher.

I would ask you Warrant Officer Recruiter. In my state Senior Signal Warrants were hard to find. The recruiter put me in touch with a CW4 who is a technician and literally worked in a basement. He interviewed me and reviewed my packet to decide if he would recommend me and what to write.
