Does anyone know how the Old Guard assemble (build) their full size medals?

Not sure what precisely you are asking, but if you mean the mechanics of it, there is a slide similar to the one used for ribbons spaced further apart that is used.

Did you ever get a good answer on this? I am trying to get my medals together for a wedding. I tried to slide onto a ribbon bar....is was like putting toothpaste back in the tube. is it best to use a flat bar rather than the formed one. I have 5 medals ; thinking two rows, two up, then three below. When removing the pin on clip, everything was fine....but to slip it on the new bar is real tough keeping things straight.
