Did a lot of cool missions on his deployment thoughResponse by WO1 Private RallyPoint Member made Jun 21 at 2018 8:28 PM2018-06-21T20:28:06-04:002018-06-21T20:28:06-04:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member3731865<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I'm not a 12D, but I do work in the same company as the first phase 12D instructors. I can tell you that it has a VERY high attrition rate (hard to pass). It is very physically and mentally demanding. Why is it you want to become a 12D? What I've been told by a senior in that field is that it's VERY competitive to get a job using those skills outside of the military. I do know there are some exotic duty stations available to them, and they also get to do some extraordinary missions. This is not a job for people who just think "oh, I like to swim/ being in water; it must be for me". If there is anything else you would like to know, I can see if I can get some more info.<br /><br />I say look into 12Y (Geospatial Engineer). I admit I'm biased (haha), but reclassing to this MOS was the best decision I've made in my military career. I had no idea what it was at the time (nor did any of my leadership), but it had "Engineer" in the title, and I'm proud of the Corps of Engineers. It is a technical, low density MOS. If you like working with computers and critical thinking, it would be up your alley. With the skills you get, it would be hard-pressed to not find a job in this ever growing, in demand field.Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Jun 21 at 2018 9:18 PM2018-06-21T21:18:43-04:002018-06-21T21:18:43-04:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member4171523<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I am a med drop from the phase 1 course at ft. leonard wood back in 2010, it is a very physically demanding course but also mental and how your body anatomy is set up. You can score 300+ on your Pt tests but dive 12 feet in a pool and start getting nose bleeds or heart palpitations and get med dropped. I personally was med dropped for my knee swelling up the size of a grapefruit after 9 days of the course, I had others in my class drop for the above mentioned conditions or just lacking the drive to complete the course (when I was med dropped 4 others volunteer dropped because I was all that was keeping them going). All in all after 9 classes before during and after my time only 3 people made it to phase 2 and only 1 graduated out of around 150 who attended during my time before I was reclassed needs of the army. You can look up the facebook page "Army Diver Phase 1" they have started updating it more regularly now about what they do there. There is also a Surving the Cut video they did on army divers but its from the shortened 2 week course for already qualified Special Force Soldiers. If you want more details about what I went through getting through 80% of phase 1 let me know and I can break down the day to day of phase 1.Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Nov 30 at 2018 11:28 AM2018-11-30T11:28:19-05:002018-11-30T11:28:19-05:00SPC Private RallyPoint Member5495648<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I wanna know if yo eligible being E4 promotable or E5Response by SPC Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 29 at 2020 9:18 AM2020-01-29T09:18:39-05:002020-01-29T09:18:39-05:002018-06-21T16:48:37-04:00
