If you don&#39;t know, thats where you go to BCT between your junior and senior year of high school, then AIT after. I&#39;m at the after part, I leave in a week for FT. Sill and I was wondering if you had general tips or ideas. And if I should make sure to bring anything with me. Make sure to obviously bring the essentials, however if you would like you could bring some small things like a computer, etc. you can also pack a few pairs of civi&#39;s because unless they have changed it within the last two years as you face that you get to where your civilian clothes for some period of time. Have fun in AIT. Also as you phase up you&#39;ll have a chance to go to the PX, so if you want to pack light you can always get things there later on. Make sure any paperwork you have (awards and such) is in your carry on luggage. Then remember that you are going into a training environment and you are not back on the block. Basically don&#39;t be a dumbass. I did AIT there. Some Allow civilian clothing on the weekends depending on your MOS, mine was 4 months (14G) so we were allowed civis on weekends and going off post. Being that you have a year in the Army don&#39;t go in there thinking that your better then any of the other guys that just came across the tracks. You might know a small amount more. But for the most part your experience in the Army is equal. But if you do know something don&#39;t hesitate to help a battle understand. Your sergeants will ensure that you will be taken care of. I was Artillery for 8 years and chemical for 11 years. Listen up and pay attention. You will learn how to dig the infantry out when they screw up.<br /><br />The Wolfhounds (42 inf) learned that real quick when they hit an LZ without a prep. A regiment of NVA pinned them down. Pay attention, listen and learn. Steel is an important factor on the battlefield. Have at least 13 subject notebook for notes in class. Try and get out and enjoy weekend, and so what your NCOs tell you . I trained there in the winter of 1963 and it was cold and windy, so make sure you dress for it! As far as Lawton is concerned, it was a nasty place back then and the only friend the town folks respected was our money. I don&#39;t know what Lawton is like today but I hope it has been cleaned up!
