I&#39;m going to Devils Lake ND. Any insight on that also what duty stations are there for 12N. Does anyone have any insight on what Devil's Lake ND is like, and what duty stations are there for 12Ns? 2017-05-18T17:53:57-04:00 SPC Private RallyPoint Member 2580567 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I just re-enlisted and reclassing to 12N from 15P . I re-classed myself at Leonard Wood but did my ALC at Grafton. Both are pretty miserable, but I&#39;m used to big bases like Fort Bragg. Devil&#39;s Lake is a great place in the summertime, which is the only time they can break ground so you will not have to deal with below zero temps or soul crushing wind that saps your life away on the daily march to the chow hall. ALC and SLC are reserved for the winter months when 12N can&#39;t run equipment due to environmental conditions. Instructors I had were knowledgeable, fair, and all in all, my ALC as a 12N was one of the best schools I have ever had in my almost 20 year career. The lake there is a world class destination for fisherman, and the limited hours PX rents rods and sells bait. IF you are into that sort of thing take advantage, otherwise, it will cost you a lot of money 15 years down the road to come back. The Post has next to zero active duty post activities, save the bar that is open 7 days a week and about the only thing to do there. A barber shows up 1 night a week for a couple hours. Shoppette is open very limited hours so you better go there at lunch time. Nothing else was there when I did my ALC 4 years ago. 12N can go nearly everywhere. In the guard, we are moving back to the &#39;blended&#39; company doctrine with various 12 series MOS in one company, although that has not hit yet. You could be placed with a company of over 100 12N, or you could be one of a very few, with limited equipment in a vertical (plumbers, electricians, carpenters) company in a horizontal section or platoon.. it all depends on where you are going. If you know the post or unit you can look it up or call them and find out, I&#39;m sure they will have no problem telling you how it&#39;s going to be.
