Does anyone have any info to share on Small Arms Master Gunner? Schools, courses,...

I just got the additional duty assigned an can't find any courses to help me along besides the ones for tank and cav units. Info from current or past master gunners would be appreciated. Schools, Courses, ... Pretty much anything that can make successful in this position.

There is an actual course called Small Arms Master Gunner. Check the ATRRS course catalog list for 2016. I attended the course at the Indiana RTI in 2013... lots of knowledge on all the issued weapons and tons of shooting. Camp Robinson, AR runs multiple courses every year. https://atrrs.army.mil/atrrscc/course.aspx

There's a 2 wks course at Camp Atterbury, IN, taught by the NG.

There's a course taught by the Arkansas NG. It's a great course and you will learn a lot through it. It's on ATRRS, I highly recommend attending this course

I would recommend attending the course at Camp Robinson in Arkansas. The facilities aren't great and you'll definitely need a car while you're there. But the instructors are top notch, and you'll get more trigger time than you could ask for.
