There should be somebody from the local government who can act as a liaison to guide you.<br /><br />Consider taking college courses and staying physically fit. Most LE prefer recruits with previous credit and don't become out of shape before their PT testResponse by LTC Eugene Chu made Dec 3 at 2019 2:42 PM2019-12-03T14:42:36-05:002019-12-03T14:42:36-05:00PO1 H Gene Lawrence5302394<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Going to the academy in most states is paid for by the respective departments. Start applying now because it takes awhile. If so, I would enroll in English 101 at your local college. A part of being successful in law enforcement is to be able to write reports. I really do not understand much of what you wrote and I am not trying to be mean but provide meaningful advice.Response by MAJ Byron Oyler made Dec 3 at 2019 2:44 PM2019-12-03T14:44:03-05:002019-12-03T14:44:03-05:00SPC Angela Burnham5302604<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div><a class="dark-link bold-link" role="profile-hover" data-qtip-container="body" data-id="987696" data-source-page-controller="question_response_contents" href="/profiles/987696-6113-helicopter-mechanic-ch-53">LCpl Private RallyPoint Member</a> absolutely! Look into good colleges in your area and start applying, if you intend on moving then you can probably just go into a local college as a non-matriculated student to get basic courses and electives done by the time you get out. I believe you can apply for GI BIll benefits before you get out if you're close to completing your first term of active service, that should cover the cost of the college classes. In the meantime, register for selective service exams and find out what departments are hiring.Response by SPC Angela Burnham made Dec 3 at 2019 3:38 PM2019-12-03T15:38:38-05:002019-12-03T15:38:38-05:00MSG Danny Mathers5302671<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>In North Carolina you can take the certification course in Lumberton at the community college.
