Does anyone else get annoyed with the numerous changes/edits made to your post by RallyPoint Administrators?

Today I had Rally Point administrators make numerous "tag changes" to one of my discussion posts, and a rephrasing of another discussion post because the title wasn't formatted as a question. Really? I see numerous discussion posts currently on Rally Point that are not formatted as a question. And all the tag changes, seriously? How many profile points do you all get for the edits anyway?

I didn't know that they were changing tags. That can quite often change the 'flavor' of the intended discussion. So can the changes to the tittles, but I can see that for purposes of "clarity."
I don't like the silent alteration of another's words. I don't claim that they can't do it, as it is a private site, but I don't like it. I would actually prefer straight deletion - preferably with a "deleted by admin" placeholder.

When we edit the tags or the question itself, we have the option to either allow the email to alert the poster of the change, or not allow it.
When tags are properly used, they place the question in the appropriate groups, helping those interested in the topic to find the question. Some posters don't know how to use tags properly, and questions don't end up where they are supposed to. Or, simple mistakes are made. For example, there were a number of questions tagged with Cuba, MO, instead of the country Cuba.
Regarding changing the flavor of a discussion, sometimes the body of the question (underneath the title) suggests a topic that has a clearly relevant tag, that the poster may not be aware of, or may have forgotten. I try to be very careful to stay true to the original meaning of the post when editing tags.

I can't say that I have had that experience yet (at least, not as far as I know).

I do not care enough to check it and anyway I have typos that do not get fixed and these are cause by dyslexia and seizures.

Exactly my point. A reason was given for not following standard grammar rules. Seriously? I emailed them back and told them that they are going to be extremely busy if they are going to correct grammatical errors.

I had a bright young member admin change / add a tag (topic) to one of my discussion threads (questions), Col (Join to see). I felt kind of flabbergasted (dumb?) that I had missed adding the "Fort Riley" tag to a thread that was about something that happened at or near Fort Riley, but I didn't think anything of the member admin adding the tag. It made perfect sense.
I agree with you, sir, about the question format. I do my best to post questions when I do start a discussion because that's still the preferred way to do things here. But it's obviously not required, just recommended.
I often tighten up grammar and spelling mistakes in titles. And I will tweak tags if I see something obvious missing.
The bottom line is that RP member admins are here to help. With that said, we should not change the essence of the post or "get in the way." We should be making things better, kind of behind the scenes. Facilitating in forum, as it were.

Admins get "admin point" for adding/changing tags, titles, merges, etc. I dont agree with points being awarded for it, but I guess that his how they keep track of who is an "active" or not.

TSgt Joshua Copeland I didn't realize that (as I mentioned) the only times Ive seen an explicit mention of admin points is when merging duplicate threads.

Capt Richard I P., when you next refresh the page after making the change, points will show up at the top .

TSgt Joshua Copeland --- That certainly goes a long way to explain the number of points being racked up by some Admins ...

Admin points and influence points are separate sets of points. If you go to https://www.rallypoint.com/influence and go all the way to the bottom, you will see the admin point section GySgt Wayne A. Ekblad

This is a bit off-topic, but this seemed like about as good a place as any to pose a question I have: When a member closes their account, what happens to their posts, any endorsements they made, etc.? Are all these deleted when the account is deleted? I ask because, recently, someone who I had a lot of interaction with closed their account. Now I am noticing that his posts seem to have disappeared, as has the endorsement he gave me, etc.

GySgt Wayne A. Ekblad, I can't give you RP's official answer, but I can tell you from my own personal observation that all traces of the user seem to disappear. Questions, comments, votes, endorsements, etc., all vanish.

Good enough, our personal observations match and that is sufficient confirmation. Thanks again!

You have no clue how bad I want to change this into "Man, I love the RP Admins! Don't you?" But that would be changing the topic. But adding a tag to this would only sort it into another group were it's members would see it. I don't think a Tag would be changing much. It is more of a sorting situation. I have also altered some titles. We have our reasons but we try to consult another before we do this. It is something that we do in order to clarify some questions. If the point is still relied it isn't really much. We have to QC a lot of things. It is one of those things that no matter what we do we are going to catch flak. We just really try to keep with the original intent.

Be careful. Admin has their eye on you. They may just edit you off of rallypoint with that kind of talk.
Honestly it's no big deal to me. I've had it happen once and I believe it was due to a duplicate post issue. Can you admit that your writing isn't of the highest caliber? I sure can. I get that they'd rephrase it to make the topic more understandable or focused. Also, if they edited yours and you see multiple posts not formatted as a question, it's probably because they haven't gotten to them yet. Being an admin doesn't sound like much fun, and I suppose they do have a life of their own as well. I don't think they are power tripping with their admin stripe of designated glory lol.
For humorous purposes we should find a evil name for admins on rallypoint(I can assume that this may have been a topic already and this will get edited or rephrased lolol)

Good point. I mean if I was outright wrong or really inappropriate I'd deserve it.
But you're right, if I just spoke my mind legitimately, I'd feel some sort of way about having my opinion deleted just like that or edited at that. I didn't know this was Russia or China is what I'd be thinking lol.

I'm pretty sure admins don't get points for editing topics or questions. Our admin points come from merging duplicate threads, I think. that's the only one where I've seen explicit mention of it. Really we do it to make things easier to understand and in compliance with the RallyPoint Terms of Service laid out in RP 3-1. If you object you can always say so and tag senor member admins to change it back, if your objection is based in the TOS.

I saw the tag edit email and figured you were screwing with me;). My hunch was right. No worries though, I have a good sense of hunor.

Sergeant, I noticed one of your titles has been changed, although I wasn't the one who made the correction. It was a post where the title was directed at a certain demographic (African American NCOs). There were a couple of responses where a male replied to you, and you commented that your question was directed toward females. I think that is why an admin changed your title to reflect gender.

I actually added the female part in once I reread it SGT (Join to see)
The email I got from the admin said something about grammar and a definition of respect. I'm not sure but when I checked it after I received the email it was the same.

Sergeant, at first glance it looks unchanged, but actually he/she changed "respectable branches" to "respective branches."
