Does anybody have an idea what this medal or badge might be (possibly WWII)?

My Dad recently gave me a medal that a friend gave him in while stationed in Germany during Veitnam.
He can't tell me much about it due to Parkinson's, and my internet search hadn't found much.
Anybody have an idea?

It's German. WWII. Every medal I've found with "I Preis" engraved on it is somehow related to Hitler... Not certain, but appears to be a Nazi relic/memorabilia.

NOTE! I found a Hungarian medal engraved with the same inscription... Same time period... Looks a bit different. Perhaps a different degree?

Based on the use of the crown and lack of the twisted cross, I would guess its origin to either be German in the era of principalities or a kingdom, or the Austro-Hungarian Empire. A google image search for Austrian I preis medals doesn't show what you posted, but among the images were coins and military awards depicting a crown similar to the one on your medal.

Not sure, but it says "First Prize". I don't believe it's a military medal due to that.
