Does any one have a connection with an offshore oil rig company

I'm looking to work on a offshore oil rig but can't seem to find clear paths to take or who to talk to in this industry. Every where i look they seem to want 1+ years but I have no idea where to start?

Check out shell oil Company. The Military recruiter will be in Marine Corp Base Camp Pendleton, CA from October 21-22 for testing,. If you pass it, you can apply for any positions open around the country.

Not offshore rig, but a few months ago, I was told about the Bonneville Power Administration's veterans outreach efforts. BPA is a DOE agency in the Northwest that maintains the grid and power marketing from federal dams in that region. Among other jobs, they recruit linemen to maintain the transmission lines. If I was young and looking for exciting outdoor work, that would be attractive.

I'd also like to loop in Sgt Robert Suarez who recruits for Tesoro. His open jobs are posted on the RP career corner. He will also be able to tell you if they have any offshore positions.

Get in touch with Mike Roshaven, he'll be able to let you know where and when you can take the test for shell. Also check indeed.com for trainee jobs which require the basics like high school diploma, driver licence and a good background, you'll be suprised with what you can find. I was fortunate enough to be given an opportunity to take small certification courses at colleges around base. They do help at times.

I know it's hard to get in without experience, third party service providers are a good way to get that crucial experience. Check out rigzone.com, hundreds of jobs for NOV, weatherford and many others

If you are still looking and willing to relocate to Mississippi I can put you in touch with one of my cousins. Some of them are veterans and they all have worked on offshore rigs for as long as I can remember. At the very least they can provide you with the information you need.
