The proper thing to do is have your new commander sign a new 4187 appointing you as a 1SG in that unit.

If you will not be assuming duties as a 1SG in your next assignment you should be wearing MSG stripes.

In this case is if she will not be serving as a 1SG in the unit she is TCSd/attached to she should be wearing MSG stripes. She can be re-appointed when she returns to her organic unit.Response by CSM Private RallyPoint Member made Jul 7 at 2015 5:47 AM2015-07-07T05:47:17-04:002015-07-07T05:47:17-04:00SGM Private RallyPoint Member796582

The primary position on TDA/TOE should determine the "actual" rank.Response by SGM Private RallyPoint Member made Jul 7 at 2015 8:27 AM2015-07-07T08:27:46-04:002015-07-07T08:27:46-04:00CSM David Heidke796597

no, they do not.

I had two "first" sergeants who adamantly refused to remove the diamond when I was in Afghanistan.

I too was a mobilized 1SG, as were these two, but unlike them I took off the diamond without being reminded on a daily basis.

These two were childish ego cases, who would pout and whine whenever they didn't get their way.

If you are deployed into another position, you are no longer on the UMR in the losing unit, orders take you out of that unit.Response by CSM David Heidke made Jul 7 at 2015 8:37 AM2015-07-07T08:37:25-04:002015-07-07T08:37:25-04:00SGT Joseph Goldman797256

Then they maintain their diamond. The position required a memo with the line and paragraph number putting you into that position on the UMR . If you are deployed into that position see to it that you have this done . I guess it’s possible to be deployed and not have that line in the deployed unit type the Appointment order yourself and get your command BN or CO to sign itResponse by 1SG John Highfill made Mar 17 at 2020 7:19 AM2020-03-17T07:19:00-04:002020-03-17T07:19:00-04:002015-07-07T03:04:35-04:00
