Do you think we now have better technology to find the Weapons of Mass destruction that they said they could not find in the first gulf war?

I remember every day you hear Weapons of Mass Destruction, while I was in High School, leading up the first gulf war. Then a few years later they said they could not find them, including President Bush.

I suppose we have better technology now to find stuff.

I have no doubt that chemical weapons had been in Iraq; Saddam Hussein had used them against the Kurds and in Iraq’s war with Iran. They were apparently removed prior to the arrival of our troops and returned to storage with their originator. It might still be possible to detect traces of their former presence using more modern sensor technology.

There is nothing to suggest that these WMDs existed, and plenty to suggest that the public was simply misled over ulterior motives. So no reason to think anything would change.

"They said." Two very impactful, completely meaningless words. I went to Afghanistan with a soldier who provided security for UN inspectors looking for WMD. They found them. Not all of them, but enough to prove the point. They also found precursor chemicals. Why did "they" say we didn't find any? Because it would have embarrassed our allies in NATO who sold Saddam the precursors and equipment to make the stuff after the 1991 Gulf War. "They" say a lot of things that are a bit shy of the truth. "They" always have to cover each other's backsides.
