I believe there is a BIG calling for veterans to volunteer their time and talents to nonporfit organizations that are making a difference.

Volunteers are a tremendous resource for charitable nonprofits. Absent volunteers, many charitable nonprofits would not be able to conduct programs, raise funds, or serve clients.

Veterans are drawn to positions of service. The spirit of an all-volunteer military has cultivated a generation of veterans who have paused their careers, family, education — lives — to give their time and talent to others.

Victory for Veterans, Inc. is made up all volunteers and has been for over 8 years now. It's banner program Warriors for Life (WFL) Online Peer Support is made up 100% volunteer and disabled veterans and civilians giving their time and talents 7-days a week, 365-days a year.

Absolutely! My post military career was with a large non-profit that had a volunteer corps that was twice the size of paid employees. Once you got past those that were doing volunteer work to meet some mandated requirement you got down to a dedicated group of volunteers.
Our volunteer coordinator once did a poll on why people volunteered and the mission of the organization was far and away the leader, which gets down to the former military volunteer. They totally understand mission driven operations, while at the same time bring a sense of dedication that is not routinely found in many civilian organizations.

Anyone can make a great volunteer or not - depends on their personality and outlook on life.

Sure - but in my area, the Veteran's organizations themselves need their own Veterans as volunteers in their own VFWs, ALs, etc. etc.
