The family of Kate Steinle announced on Tuesday that they have filed a lawsuit against San Francisco Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency and the U.S. Bureau of Land Management, saying no one is taking responsibility for their loved one's death.

I doubt it will. what needs to happen is criminal charges need to be filed against all who violated their sworn duty to include federal officials and all state and local officials. This will send a message that failure to uphold the laws of our nation won't be tolerated.

I wish the family all the success in the world. It would be super if those responsible for not reporting the illegal immigrant being released from jail and sanctuary cities be held accountable for allowing criminals to roam free. It's as though we live in the "old west" with criminal migrating to sanctuary cities for protection. (That part of history hasn't been erased yet, has it?).
Someone could write a Syfy story, "2015-the year history started."
Back to the point at hand, this family is hurting and deserves justice. Let the state and Feds enforce the laws. 'Nuf sed!

Hmmmm, Let me See. Suits Generally take several years to reach any kind of conclusions, Suit counter suit, yes, no take it to the next level where it is reversed. Usually/Hopefully they are able to recoup some monetary gain when they settle out of court a long time from now which the lawyers will get 2/3 that is about the norm. Being that that area of the country is my Second Home Northern California, Oregon and Washington. Lots and lots of Ubber Farms, Great Rain makes for Great Crops Most the Hops for the Beer Industry all the grapes for your table and wine all your berries and most of your apples come from there and guess what they use mostly "Illegals" to harvest them or folks that paperwork is not as solid as that which we use. That is why they get them cheap and why you have those fruits and veggies on your table. You and I aren't about to give that up or protest outside our Grocery Store to stop it. Just a Reality Check. Also being Raised a Good Catholic Boy in cases where "Illegals" are threatened especially in City, States, Counties that are "Sanctuaries", The Catholic Church can and will file a friend of the Court Brief because "Sanctuary" is a core principle of our belief and most these "Illegals" also happen to be Catholics. Just the Nature of the Beast.

There is a chance the suit could cause San Francisco to revisit its sanctuary city policy. This policy disallows local officials from questioning a resident's immigration status. It is unlikely to result in any meaningful immigration reform.

Change the immigration policy to what? Building a wall at the border? If the shooting in Mesa Arizona did nothing to change the immigration policy, I doubt that this will do.

Of course it will, that is unless an EO prevents the execution of the law if passed. This is about protecting our innocent civilians from those that have repeatedly broken our laws with impunity.

UGH, although the suit will find culpability. Law here is,... qwacky. See, an illegal immigrant is in violation of civil law, not criminal law. NO Judge will issue a warrant for a civil violation in immigration cases. Up till now, the detainer policy was mostly working, till sanctuary cities said you must get a warrant. Ha ha, they ask for something that the feds can't get. Even a repeat felon as this guy, was not considered a criminal felon in immigration law.
