If the current President has evidence of this, I hope he releases it and lets the chips fall where they may. If he doesn't have evidence, or isn't willing to release it, should he really be putting out statements like this?

I'm not sure we need to know, but if anything illegal was done and/or it is not protected due to ongoing investigation I would like to know. There are so many investigations going on that I don't even try to keep up. If they got the proper warrants or writs then a judge must have been presented enough evidence to issue a warrant ; if one was required. If it is something illegal like Nixon's WH Plumbers then we need to know. It may just be a false accusation, or could be valid. Bottom line is we just don't know at this time, and may not ever know.

I think that there is something behind this. Think about this, What is opposition research, how it is done, and who benefits?
Candidates and incumbents who benefit from opposition research often choose to remain uninformed about their campaign's operations and tactics, to insure plausible deniability should criminal charges be brought against researchers.
Considering that, also what needs to be considered is when. However, considering what Mr. Trump said about the intelligence community, is it really startling? President Obama, himself, probably had nothing to do with it (IF it is true). The question then becomes 'who authorized it' and 'was it legal or illegal?'
IF it occurred, it was probably illegal. Why do I say that - I do not believe that any intelligent judge would sign off on a wire tap warrant that late during an election. In public a judge that did that would be ostracized by all of the political parties, and that is quite a conundrum.

If this is true Then There Needs to Be an Investigation as to whom signed the Warrant and what were the Charges ot suspensions... and if in Fact it was bogus Charges then there needs to be Proper Legal Actions Taken... against the Judge and the personnel involved...

I don't know if it happened or not. However, what I do know is that the US intelligence community has been caught spying (wiretapping) on our friends (Israel and Germany) in the past. The Patriot Act allows easier access to legal wiretaps.

From a law enforcement prospective, obtaining a legal wiretap requires a court order which are not given out lightly. However, the rules are different for the Intel community.

Given the past history of some government agencies under the previous administration (ie - the IRS), I would not be shocked to learn that Trump was wiretapped.

Considering that industrial espionage - business - makes up close to 2/3rds of all spy traffic, I'm sure that Trump - a businessman - would have people already in place, to spot that. Nextly, having been elected president and now having secret service on his payroll, do we think that they haven't been over his homes and residences with a fine tooth comb? They have? I find it amazing that even though Obama isn't in office and has no influence whatsoever, so many people want to pin the failures of this administration on him and attempt to tie every leak on Obama or some deep Obama operative. As far as I see it, I would be flattered to think that even after I left office that someone thinks that I still have such an influence. That and someone that is so weak that he needs a scapegoat because he finally realized that he can't do anything he wants and that he's boxing WAAY above his weight class
