I mean obviously we&#39;d have to take a concealed carry course and everything but I think it&#39;s stupid that we don&#39;t. I understand each state has it&#39;s own rules as far as the requirements for the permit but they should come up with national requirements and then issue a nationwide CCW permit. How about you, what are your thoughts? Do you think there should be Concealed Carry nationwide reciprocity? 2014-11-07T00:56:21-05:00 SSG(P) Private RallyPoint Member 315004 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I personally think that since we honor driver&#39;s license in every state, we should honor CCW permits in every state. The first shots in our revolution were fired against people sent by the government to confiscate firearms and prohibit people from privately carrying them, so I&#39;m in the camp that our constitution tells the government to stay out of it; not that they do, but considering our founders shot the government officials restricting their firearms ownership and carry, I think they&#39;d spin in their graves knowing we have to bow and scrape, yet again, to get &quot;permission&quot; to own/carry from the very government our constitution was written to restrict. I am retired, living in Georgia. I travel north in my motor home for visits and recreation. I like to make stops along the way, but because I carry a weapon in the RV, there are states I just drive through because of their lack of reciprocity with GA ( loss to their economy). The same goes for military camp grounds, which I would like to use, but don&#39;t because of on base weapons policy&#39;s. And specifically, if/when someone with a given state&#39;s CCW is across a state border and gets stopped by LEOs, what that situation looks like, as the CCW holder tried to explain that Gay Rights = Gun Rights....this stemming from the wording of the 14th Amendment, and Reciprocity issues. There is for retired LEO except in Federal Buildings. This requires annual qualification with the department from which you retired. Texas has qualification by certified instructors so you do not need to travel great distances annually.HR218 is intended to provide protection for officers related to past arrests that may present a current threat. With some modification this could be adjusted as a model for reciprocity. CPT Wayne R.
