Do you think the military could create a better recruitment system focusing on the Constitution’s Preamble?

I think it would be epic and also improve the whole system utilizing phrases and intentions of the preamble as building blocks in training in all phases

The youth would get more inspired and educated and noble

I can not imagine a more clear concise statement then the Preamble

It is so simple and dynamic

And to think we swear that oath to defend it but probably never even read the Preamble

You could use it in Meps work up paper work. You could use it in all standards of all systems of the branches.

Leadership could reference it more in bootcamp

PO3 Aaron Hassay - I share your admiration and appreciation for the Preamble. It is eloquent and precise - more or less our mission statement. It is also the consent of we, the people, stating the purpose we have for being governed . . . what we expect from government.

What exactly are you trying to address within the recruitment process?

I appreciate the preamble for what it is and the words give me goosebumps but The Preamble is just an introduction. It's the opener and attention getter for the main event. We could incorporate more of the Constitution as a whole but I don't the end goal with focusing so heavily on the introduction by itself.

But I may just need to better understand what issues you are trying to address altogether.

I don't even know what this means.

Let's try to grasp what you're going for: "We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

What exactly from this do you think would help recruitment? Do you want them to require AD servicemembers to recite the preamble? I'm thoroughly confused as to what you're aim is with this.

How would you include it in MEPS paperwork?

I'm just really confused as usual with your post.

I think a better option would be to incorporate an study of the Constitution and Declaration of Independence within Senior year of high school AND at each service IET, having people actually read it and explain what it means to them. There would be no right or wrong but to have the people actually read and understand what it is actually saying.
Those two documents say a lot, but as usual we teach people to read between the lines at something that may or not be there to interpret. Only the authors know what is actually meant, and since we can't ask them we have to take it verbatim.
But having a read and discussion afterward can allow understanding rather than whatever Congress calls whatever they do when "quoting" the 2 most important pieces of America.

Maybe, but i think true believers are less likely to stay in after one tour.
