Do you think the Coronavirus Situation is being blown out of proportion?

More people died from the H1N1 (Swine Flu), more people die from flu, heart disease, suicide, etc. 98% of the people that contract it survive, and at least 90% of the cases are in China. I’m not one for believing much of the Govt SSG(P) Private RallyPoint Member and year I think this is getting more then just out of hand. It could be one of a few things, it’s not being reported as to how many people are really dying from this, and for something to be effecting so many people, how come no one directly effected by the death of a loved one has blasted there story on some type of social media? We had a case out where I live with one reported death and no one knows who the individual was? This is strange because we live in such a small tight nit towns? Someone gets into a car accident and dies and it’s all over Facebook?!!!
Also why haven’t any reports Govt officials being reported as having contact with this “airborn” virus? Leaves me to believe it was discovered, then controlled enough to protect the Govt’s of the world then released into humanity as a monopoly survival game of population control!
Or the virus really doesn’t exist and the United Nations and all Govt’s are brain washing is into believing that there is and this is just repeat of Hitler on a mass scale! Chemical warfare of this magnitude is way easier to control the populations then it is starting a fight with another country.

Honestly, it’s about survival at this point. From what is the question.

So, it's a double-edged sword. Obviously the media is blowing this way up causing mass-hysteria. I do like the idea of cancelling school and other things for a couple of weeks. One thing that must be considered is the fact that there is no antidote yet, which is causing the mass hysteria.

COVID-19 should be taken very seriously as it appears to be extremely virulent. That being said, the media fear mongering isn’t helping.

Blown out of proportion by whom?

Swine flu was around a lot longer and not nearly as contagious as COVID-19. It also had a much lower fatality rate.
Comparing this to the "flu, heart disease, suicide, etc" is really apples and oranges. We have a vaccine for the common flu, we do not for COVID-19. And you can't infect someone with heart disease or suicide.

TBH I don't think people are taking it seriously enough. Had they we probably would not have our sports and schools cancelled.

Yes in part my friend SSG(P) Private RallyPoint Member in the sense that the efforts for political gain [early on] were an impetus for panic in stock markets and name calling.
A. The Federal government has done much more than was expected by restricting people coming into this nation who may have been infected on cruise ships, aircraft and at the borders. The 14 day quarantine has proved useful including for redeploying military personnel and family members.
B. The Federal government's efforts to eliminate misguided, wasteful and redundant regulations have made it easier for research to be quickly conducted in developing treatment including immunizations - already in human trials.
C. The Federal government invokes the Defense Production Act to fight COVID-19 on March 18, 2020 to expand "production and distribution of medical supplies like masks, ventilators and respirators. It will also expand hospital capacity to combat the pandemic."

Background:
1. HIV was much more dangerous to the general population in this nation than Coronavirus (19) is and yet the risks to active homosexual populations was covered up early on because of political correctness. Hopefully the lessons from that disaster have been taken to heart.
2. Coronavirus in this nation is a primary threat to the elderly and those with serious respiratory illnesses. Thankfully children are not at great risk from this disease in this nation. [That may change if the virus modifies itself overseas - especially in China = with its huge population.
3. Influenza will prove fatal to between 27k and 71K this year as in most other years. Those at greatest risk include infants as well as those at risk for Coronavirus (19)

Bottom line. The Federal government response is much better than reasonably expected for those who mistrust our president.
