As the Army reduces its ranks there will be a ton of mental capital leaving the Army as I feel a lot of E6 to E8's will be the ones who are cut on the NCO side. What that means is the individuals left in these ranks are going to in short demand and it will be tougher for them to act as mentors for green NCO's. I think the WLC does a good job in getting troops properly prepared to take on the NCO role. Until things fully wind down this is only going to hurt the Army by cutting it. WLC is renamed Basic Leader Course (BLC). The Warrior Leader Course is being evaluated for redesign, and probable shortening through a combination of distributed learning and resident instruction. Whatever the end result, it seems certain that the Warrior Leader Course will be renamed the Basic Leader Course. The ARMY has done this in the past when we changed from the Primary Leadership Development Course (PLDC) to WLC.
