Mrs. Clinton has a proven track record of being out of touch with the people of this country, and also of being someone who despises the military.

While I was in Iraq, I was assigned to a certain unit, whose commander had served under the first President Bush, and who also served under Clinton for about another year. This individual had been in charge of carrying the "football" (the briefcase which allows the President to launch nukes no matter where he is). He also had to give the morning briefing to the President.

His specific statement about Clinton: The most arrogant, bitchy, and generally unpleasant person he'd ever been around. He personally overheard her say something derogatory about the military and military service men and women. The specifics elude me for the moment, but once my Alzheimer's subsides, I'll post more about that.

BTW: The individual (who I still maintain occasional contact with) is a fullbird (at least, he was last time I e-mailed him) Navy Commander. I have no reason to doubt this individual, and I know he would not lie about anything that he'd ever done.

Not just no but HELL no. First and foremost, she does not have the best interests in mind for the country. Second, her total disregard for human life, especially with Benghazi, clearly disqualifies her for ANY office. Third, I sure as hell do not want another Clinton, or Bush, or political family in office.

Who I want is someone of the people and FOR the people. Sadly, there are hardly any around who do wish to run.

My first reaction was to say no, but taking a moment to reconsider and trying to be objective...I'd say I'm not sure right now. I would hope that having made some questionable decisions, she learned from her mistakes. She has faced much personal adversity as anyone and now has had to deal with a lot of political adversity as well. Maybe she has become "battle-hardened" and is better prepared to be President...then again maybe she hasn't. I'm open enough to at least give her a fair chance to convince.

I have to say without any doubt or equivocation that she would be a horrible president. As a part of the presidential team in 2011; 10 years to the day from the original attacks as secretary of state she botched her job to ensure the protection of Embassy staff members by maintaining peaceful relations with Libya which resulted in the loss of 4 American lives. While I admit she was not solely responsible she was partially to blame.

As for the best front running candidate I would have to say my vote goes to Mickey Mouse, no wait, Goofy.

"It's in the past, it doesn't matter..." That's not how you answer a question about an attack on one of your offices that cost the lives of four of your workers. She looks to me like someone that has trouble taking responsibility as a leader.

She'll have a lot of ground to make up for to earn my vote because of that. That said, it's not impossible. It also depends heavily on who the republican candidate is.

I've got to say that in my military and civilian careers I've enjoyed working for female superiors. Now before take a wrong turn down COL Nathan Jessup Boulevard (if you don't know the reference, you can't handle the truth), let me continue.

I've found a woman boss to be less politically motivated (ok, not so much in this case but ...) more to the point, more direct, more willing to buck the system and less likely to take sh!t. Again from my experience. The current occupant needs to retire and open a Waffle House franchise - those of you who have served south of the Mason-Dixon line know the place - great hash browns!

I think this country needs a little motherly TLC, from someone who knows how give someone like Russia a good paddling with the back of a wooden spoon! Not 100% committed to Hillary yet. I was in favor of the Mondale/Ferraro ticket but too young to vote on that one. Would have gone for the McCain/Palin except for only teeny-tiny thing - Sarah Palin. Would have definitely voted for a McCain/Fey ticket though. :-)

MAJ Whitehorn, Sir, Please in the event MRS. Hilary Clinton is voted as President of this great nation, the United States of America, lets air out of our concerns about her now because if she does become President, there might be a lot SMs being fired for their comments. With that said, I will try to keep it tactful and professional. I am from Arkansas, born and raised in a small town of Conway which is 25 miles from Little Rock. I am not stranger to the Clintons. I myself, do not want to see MRS. Clinton as the next president. To me, MRS. Clinton is just like President Obama but she's no 2.0 version. She is more like negative 2.0. She as president would be stepping deeper into a bottomless bag of FUBAR.

MRS. Clinton should not be President should not be President mostly because of Benghazi. Here are some reason:

1. She lied about why Benghazi was attacked - no integrity
2. She said, "why does it matter" why Benghazi was attacked even though the facts were known
3. She took some responsibility be ordering an investigation but by her own department? If Alpha company as a sexual assault accusations, do they do their own 15-6 investigations? I didn't think so. Someone much higher will make that decision like the BN CDR.
4. She could have prevented the attack. She knew of the dangers yet she sat on the information. She is a manager, not a LEADER!
5. She has silenced whistle blowers. People have been threatened to be silent. Why would she need to do this? It sounds like a cover up to me.
6. She had no plan to defend the four Americans by refusing to provide ample protection.

This is why she should not be President.

To answer, No. I'm not a fan of the career politics.

However, you need to see what will be available in the next election. To be quite honest; we need a change. Who wouldn't mind finding a person that might have been a state level instead of one on those from the federal level. It would be nice to have someone that keeps it simple.

For those that have taken our history classes understands how elections were done in the past and how they have evolved. Ex: our State legislators used to vote for our US Senators. Today we vote for our US senators, thanks to the 17th amendment.

What we need to have, is get those who have been elected to agree and act like statesmen/stateswomen. If you want to go and take the long road, need to press the issue of seniority. Look at trying to limit those terms for each office. We did it for the President. Look at now doing it for the US Representatives and Senators.

I'm a person that still love politics for what it's worth. As a member who served in the Vermont State Legislative Page, in Montpelier and US Senate Page, in D.C. in turned became a banker in my late teens and now in the military. All I'll say is; you can complain all you want. But, it's your job to vote.

If I read some of the post correctly go a head and vent everything out. But, also keep it in good taste.

My top contenders for the 2016 election at this time would be Chris Christie, Marco Rubio, or Paul Ryan. More of a rhetorical question I suppose. I just know I'd trust any one of the people on this site (minus the few civilians) more than I would any politician, commercial or propaganda.

Honestly, it would depend on who takes Congress. The first two years of Obama's first term would have looked much different if his party didn't also have strong control of the legislative branch. Among many things, my health insurance would be much lower, because there is no way the ACA would have gotten through without said control. So, Hillary with a split or even non-democratic Congress, might not be so bad. If anything, it will prevent the federal government from swinging their big stick around trying to effect change.

The biggest effect I see would be to the Judicial branch. We have four justices over the age of 70; 2 of whom are fairly conservative, and two who are of a swing-like nature, though liberal leaning. As the President is a large factor in the choice, a two term President could effectively alter the make-up of our supreme court for decades to come.

I am far more concerned about 8 more years of a dysfunctional privately held corporately-owned Congress and Supreme Court than I am of what any future President will do. The Founding Fathers gave the Congress the bulk of the power in our government. They did not give as much power to the President as people think. It's all in Article 1 of the Constitution.

I think she will do many things better than President Obama, for one she and the former President Clinton are schmoozers, they tend to be able to work deals. This is something that I feel President Obama has lacked, not that he has not tried, but at this point I think is Administration is opting to avoid the repeated ball kicking that is talking with the TEA Party.

On the other hand if you look on the comments here the general consensus is that the she is going to be good or the worst thing ever. I think everybody is being a bit dramatic, and in the end it is her biggest flaw; she is divisive, whether she is attempting to be or not. This is one of the reasons I wonder if Vice President Biden would not make a better POTUS for this time in the American story. He talks straight, people who listen to him tend to like him, and he has long history of working out compromise especially in the Senate (Remember the 2011 Debt Ceiling).

My biggest issue is that the Republican Party is not offering anybody who is as credible as Secretary Clinton, nor are they really offering a counterpoint to her ideas. I think the U.S. Public is tired of politics that exist only to thwart one another, and really that is all the Republican party has accomplished over the course of this Administration. I think a lot of people are interested in Senator Rand Paul until they really study his positions (I am kind of going off of his father's books to fill the blanks with the Senator). Senator Cruz is more divisive than Secretary Clinton, and Governors Walker, and Christie I am not sure aren't a lot corrupt. Senator Rubio has never stood for anything, as we can see by him coming out against his own bills. I would listen to what Governor Huntsman has to say, but he will never make it through a Primary. Eh my $0.02

The majority says no just because of her last name. But the truth is, what constitutes being a good President? President Obama passed Obamacare and everyone hates him for it, but he did get OBL. Judging by his work in office will we say 10/15 years from now he was a good President? What about President Bush? Remember everybody hated him when Iraq was spinning out of control while we were headed towards another Great Depression. Will we say he was bad president or a good president. What about James Polk or Franklin Pierce? Do you even know who they are? They might have President when mail was still delivered by house and you had to take the train to get from state to state, but we're they good Presidents?

It's too difficult to judge if someone is going to be a good President because you don't know what's going to happen in that Presidency. All you can do is speculate. So the leader of the free world is a woman, will the world's so called dictators & hardliners [North Korea, Iran] and terrorists group [ISIS] step up the pressure? We don't know that yet. Whose to say Hilary won't adopt a form of the Bush Doctrine and redefine the term preemptive? You just don't know because there are too many variables you have to take into consideration in how an event occurs and how it makes other countries react.

But back to the question at hand and I would probably say maybe Hilary would be a good President.

I'm not convinced she will run, and just because she's the expected favorite right now doesn't mean it's inevitable that she will receive the nomination if she does run. In 2008, she ran and well the supposed favorite then was dead in the water against a junior Senator from Illinois. If the front runner won the election by being the favorite before the first primary, we'd have had a President Guliani.

I am not convinced that she will run due to her health, and the recent change in her status as being one of the two creepiest looking new grandparents in the country. I just don't think she'll run but she'll have some sway in shaping who has the nomination and who gets the money while promoting her and Bil's Clinton Global Initiative.

My expectations of the Obama Administration have been fairly accurate. He came to the position with no credentials - no leadership experience - and we have been wandering as a nation rudderless. However, we know much more about Hillary and her leadership style. Remember Travelgate? That was the result of her vindictive nature. Remember Hillarycare? That initiative failed because she blatantly excluded healthcare providers from any public discussion of the healthcare industry. It would be the same as having a panel of drill press operators mapping the diplomatic strategy of the nation.

Still, the future of such a government is cloudy. Would the states finally rise up and put a halt to it? Would the people finally rebel? Maybe Hillary is just the kind of President we need to get the ball rolling...

I honestly find it hard to say whether one will be or has been "good". I've been in the military 9 years and have seen 2 presidents during my service time.

From neither of them have I seen anything that drastically makes my life better as a service member.

From my perspective, outside of the small % increase in our paychecks there hasn't been much but non-stop cuts on our military funds/capabilities.

Luckily we're trained to "shut up and make due" and we have done as well as we could, with what we have gotten/still have left.

I could say maybe for those who were affected by it (not me personally) but maybe the don't ask-don't tell repeal was a positive note.

I am certain that the United States will suffer under a Hillary Clinton Administration on two counts: Ideologically and Practically.

Ms Clinton represents a political ideology that has failed in every instance where it has been attempted: Socialism. Don't waste your time arguing. She has branded herself a socialist in every word and deed of her public life and socialism has failed or is failing everywhere in the world. We simply can't afford it given the current state of the economy as well as unrest in the world.

In more practical terms, we need only look to Ms Clinton's performance as an attorney, First Lady, and Secretary of State to see failure piled on failure. Yes, of course, the First Lady has no formal duties, but her husband placed her in positions of responsibility during his Administration and the result was Travelgate (wherein Ms Clinton's "management style" led to crony capitalism and erupted in a major scandal) and Hillarygate (wherein Ms Clinton excluded healthcare providers from her nation wide effort to craft a new public health policy). As Secretary of State, evidence builds every day that she is responsible for the debacle at Benghazi and may be responsible for the deaths of our ambassador there and his defenders.

Lastly, there are health issues. We should not place a person in the most stressful job in the world when they are unlikely to survive it.

If you are anxious to elect a woman as President, allow me to recommend Condoleeza Rice...

I am terrified of this next election. Never have I been so depressed about the choices. It is very clear that no matter who wins the election, our country loses. We don't need another Bush dynasty or Clinton dynasty in the White House.

We need, more than ever, a strong centrist party. There are no other voices among the Dems right now, and among the GOP, the strongest voices are Tea Partiers.

Despite actually knowing what the job entails and having quite a lot of experience in dealing with the leaderships of other countries, Ms. Clinton would never have the support of the Republicans so government would grind to a halt and America would look like it was being run by a bunch of idiots as far as the rest of the world was concerned.

I think that Hillary like any politician is incapable of giving an honest or straightforward in dealing with the American People. Worse still, I think that her attitude is not remorse for her secretive (at best) behavior, rather outrage that she would even be questioned on it. I think that she looks at the military and its members as expendable. Worst of all, I think that the elected officials on both sides of the aisle have completely forgotten that they have taken an oath to support and defend the constitution rather than using it as the butt of a joke. None of these are traits that I want to see in an American President.

What I want from an American President is a person who understands that they are a representative of the people, not a king. A person who carries the constitution with them so they can refer to it often when making decisions. I want a president who understands that the United States cannot afford to be the world's baby sitter. I want a president who is committed to making the lives of American Citizens better a foremost priority. I want a president who regards American Service Members as more than just an expendible tool.

Of course I also want to win the lottery, which (sadly) seems far less far-fetched than finding a good candidate for president.

If we can all agree that historical facts become future tendencies then let’s discuss that for a moment. If we cannot agree at least on that premise, wait a few years and your idiocy will be repeated anyway despite your denial.

That being said, I submit to you this question: Are you pleased with all past president’s performance?

My guess is that you, because grandpa didn’t like this or that one, or dad, or even through your own American History report you did in the 9th grade, you aren’t satisfied with all the presidents and you probably have a favorite but can’t really nail down the reason why. Here are some points to ponder:

Over 50% of presidents were lawyers and even more than that were politicians.

18 Presidents previously served as U.S. Representatives; 6 of 18 held this office prior to the four 'previous positions'. Only one - James A. Garfield - was a Representative immediately before election as President. Only one ex-president, John Quincy Adams, ever served as a U.S. Representative.

17 Presidents previously served as state Governors; 9 of 17 were Governors immediately before election as President.

16 Presidents previously served as U.S. Senators; only 3 immediately before election as President.

14 Presidents previously served as Vice-President. All except Nixon were VP immediately before election as President; 9 of the 14 succeeded to the Presidency because of the death or resignation of the elected President; 5 of those 9 were not re-elected.

8 Presidents previously served as Cabinet Secretaries; 6 as Secretary of State; 5 of the 8 served immediately before election as President.

So, with all that being said, I think we should give an American, NON-politician (yet with political savvy), and NON-lawyer the opportunity to bring a perspective to the Oval Office that is actually from the people.

I digress a little to say this; The media is a well-trained tool for sparking interest in trivial things and harping on dead horses. It’s the quintessential virtual barber shop and salon parlor that serves well to stupefy an uninformed and lazy society into drinking the cool-aide flavor of the day. All that to say, don't be lazy!

I believe the KISS method serves best in any situation hence this is my recommendation. In a couple months there will be more relevant sites that do a “decent” job of allowing you to answer questions about issues in politics and the algorithms will do a comparative association to help you narrow your field of potential candidates of whom you would vote. Until then, this should get you started:

Step 1: Learn about yourself and where you stand generally go to http://www.isidewith.com/political-quiz

Step 2: Understanding that not all candidates are yet in this questionnaire and therefore it only serves to show you whose answers you are most matched with go to http://selectsmart.com/president/ and answer from your heart and use the slide bar to best represent how important that issue is to you.

Step 3: Research the candidates in a “broad-scope” technique to learn more about the individuals competing for YOUR vote you may start here: http://2016.presidential-candidates.org/

Step 4: Narrow your research now to a hand-full of hopefuls and spend time reading about their life, their stances and beliefs etc. Now that you have put forth some effort and know more about what you may be discussing (now intelligently) with friends and family, go forth and do your duty, vote.

This is what I believe: the two-party system should be eliminated, campaign expenditures should be capped and equal to the median potential of the group of candidates, donations be only capped and allowed from individuals and never from corporations, voters must show a government issued photo identification, and popular vote determines the winner. Until these things happen, I am tired of choosing between the lesser of two knuckleheads to run my country.

In case you’re curious, personally I believe Dr. Ben Carson (who by the way is not listed yet in step 2) is the greatest ally of “We the People”. He is not a lawyer, not a politician, and reveals his prowess of international affairs in his books. I encourage you to look him up. Although he is a GOP exploratory candidate, I believe if self-proclaimed Democrats and Republicans would put parties aside and look at the individual, they would see their next president.

I have read a lot of these comments and it seems like everyone that voted no did so because of Benghazi. In the 2008 democratic primaries I told my friends and family that Hillary Clinton will never be president based on a remark she said during the debate about being under sniper fire in Bosnia with her daughter. When I heard that obvious lie I was furious because, while she meant that she had some experience with hostile foreign government's, what she was saying is that our military is so chewed up that they would allow the first lady and her daughter to land in a hostile area. How can a person hope to become Commander in Chief when they don't respect the military at all?
The sad fact of the matter is that Washington D.C. is broken. It has become a playground for the wealthy and entitled to pretend to be lawmakers so that they can get their lifetime pensions, while veterans sleep under bridges and are forgotten. There are very few, if any, people in D.C. that deserve their positions. These people didn't get into politics to help America or uphold the constitution, they got into politics to help themselves and uphold their trust funds.
I know that neither party will put up anyone worth voting for in 2016, so I will just hope that a third party will emerge that will actually defend the constitution and do what is right for America. I don't know maybe I'm asking too much.

Also, there were only a handful of security at the embassies, if not for the underfunding of security for embassies by the GOP, this might not had happened.

I find it very fascinating that thousands of troops has died in the so called war on terror and not one sound is heard from the GOP, yet one embassy is attacked resulting in the death of an Ambassador, the first since '79 and the GOP stir up a witch hunt, there was no cover-up get over it.

Being a leader is hard, you can't satisfy everyone and everyone is not going to like you. I'm sure most of you officers and SNCO are aware of that. To make an assumption that Hillary would not be a good leader is absurd. Every leader has their weakness, doesn't matter who they are.

In all honesty, we will never know how a candidate is going to act until they are POTUS. All of these candidates have one trait in common in my book, and that is winning the election. All they say, do, and react to is towards the goal of winning the election. Usually the only thing you can do is look at their past activity, and hope for the best. That is my opinion. She has failed miserably as the Secretary of State, namely Benghazi, concealing official correspondence by using her own personal email account and then appointed herself as the sole arbiter of what the public was entitled to see. The problem with that is she is a public servant that was acting on the behalf of we the People who are entitled to know what deals she had made with foreign entities in the name of America. The Clinton Foundation has reportedly taken money from questionable foreign entities that surely comes with some strings attached. If one of us were applying for a security clearance we would surely be denied. The POTUS should be trusted; Hillary cannot be trusted with the baggage that she brings. Her entire career has been riddled with questionable ethic problems, early in her career she was fired from the Water Gate investigation for lying. The leopards spots will not change. We need a POTUS who will strengthen our Military, economy and restore America's reputation on the world stage. That is my humble opinion.

I think it's our patriotic duty to hear her out during the campaign with an open mind (there sure isn't enough of that these days) and see what she says she would offer. Her use of private e-mail while she was Secretary of State is a huge negative for me and I would say at this point she doesn't have my vote. I wish we could get a well-deserving independent candidate to run; one who isn't beholden to any particular party. This way half of the Legislative Branch wouldn't be spending the next four years looking to subvert or undercut the executive branch at every single turn. Imagine a congress that actually works with the President on issues they agree with while exercising judicious advocacy of a better course of action on issues they don't. Wow, this looks like the same conversation we had in 1971. The military vote supported Nixon as he was getting out of 'Nam. That didn't mean the guy was clean as we found out a few years later. Clean seems to be an early topic of this election cycle.

The bigger question for any voter is "What do we want to be?" There's been a drift towards entitlements and looking more like Europe. That really bothers those who remember the good old days, albeit sometimes forgetting the negatives then. The substantial response on this site is Ms. Clinton would take us farther away from where we'd like to be.

I hope every candidate would be honest enough to say what they envision our country should look and feel like. I know, a pipe dream. It's easy to bash someone. I need the candidates to move beyond that.

I don't think she will be a good President, but she will be far from the worst. The sad thing is that with all of the damage the Republican party has done to themselves in the last few years it will be hard to mount an effective campaign against her. I think she can do some good things, but it will depend on how well she picks her inner circle.

Why not? First of all, several years back, the Gold Star Mothers went to Washington to meet with politicians. She was THE ONLY ONE who refused to meet with them. Of course you know that the Gold Star Mothers is the group of parents who have lost a child while they were serving in the military. I think this is SHAMEFUL, especially for one who now wishes to be our Commander in Chief. And, as the mother of a Wounded Warrior, this makes me especially angry. And beyond that, I won't get into it... but I think she would be a TERRIBLE president!!

First, I believe it is a shame that we are facing 'legacy' candidates. We do not live (yet?) under a monarchy, nor a patriarchy. It is, actually, quite frightening. What happens next? Chelsea? Jenna? Not good.

At this point, I have little faith in but a few of the 'Republican' candidates, which is infinitely more than I do in the Democrat candidates.

We, as a nation, need leaders, not politicians.

I'm reserving my vote until I am left (again) with the 'lesser of two evils', or until a REAL candidate comes forth, standing - unwaveringly - on the founding principals of this great Nation.

I have real problem with the Clintons period. When my former Commander in Chief committed adultery in the White House and then lied to the American Public it caused my trust for both to be lost forever. Hillary stuck with him because of his popularity and to reach her goal in landing in the White House. Not my kind of leaders. The President and Commander in Chief has to be trustworthy and someone we all would feel proud to serve under - that is just my opinion. Right or wrong, I believe that Hillary has lied to the American Public (like most Presidents and government officials) to hide mistakes that have cost the lives of some of our brother in arms. True leaders have to stand and be accounted for even when things aren't going right or they make mistakes. There is no "I" the word Team!

I was not a fan in the beginning. Then I liked some of what she did and said as a Senator related to national security and support for the military. However, as Secretary of State I grew critical again. The personal email server, ineffectiveness, and her seemingly explosive temper disqualify her in my book. But, in reading "Clinton Cash", I'm now convinced that she should get a term, behind bars.

She has a hard time with actual reality. She loves to point fingers and changes viewpoints to gain popularity. She made remarks when she ran last time that Obama didn't have enough experience yet 3 months later when he was her party's candidate she was saying he was ready. She talks out of both sides of her mouth. Kind of like when McCain ran she commented how he was too old yet she will be only three years younger than he was when she runs this time. I guess age, like reality doesn't apply to her either.

I am not a big fan of the elite getting away with mismanagement of sensitive information, failing to correctly route government information through certified DOD internet protocols, yet again I am not a fan of Snowden, but if they want to hammer him, then it should be the same for Hillary amongst the other congresspeople that are coming out of the wood works as failing to comply with DOD standards.

No chance. She lost in her very brief time as Secretary of State 6 Billion dollars somehow. She was in charge, yet had less opsec knowledge than the most junior Private that handles classified messages. She swore to kill as many coal jobs as possible helping the current president, and fulfilled that promise. She claims to be a champion for women's rights and demands equal pay for women...but pays her women on staff 38% less than she does her men on staff. She has vigorously defended a child rapist, and laughed at the victom. She claims all rape and sexual assault should be immediately believed and investigated...unless her husband is involved. Then she operates more effectively than the German propoganda artists to discredit and humiliate them. She has received funding from George Soros who is heard in a video saying the best work he ever did was working with Nazis to kill his fellow Jews. The KKK has donated to Hillary this time as well. She lectures on the evils of the high cost of college education, yet charges minimum $500,000 for a speaking fee, raising the cost to attend that institution. She speaks about being broke when she and her husband left the White House, but was still a multimillionaire. She was fired from her first job as part of the Watergate investigation for ethics violations, and her ethical compass has not guided her on a straight and narrow path yet. She is under at least two criminal investigations now by the FBI.
None of the above are strong reasons she is a solid candidate for any office let alone that of the President of the United States.

I think out of the current candidates, that Hilary is the best choice with Gary Johnson a very close 2nd. I think the green party candidate is naive. As for Trump, frankly he scares the hell out of me. Operating from a viewpoint of anger only leads to more casualties.

Of the four currently running she is the best. We have one who thinks it's okay to denigrate women, minorities and veterans. He also has close ties to Russia. The next wants to legalize pot and is a little crazy. And the last likes to vandalize private property. Is Hillary the best President?
