I'm surprised that it haven't happen yet. Another way for the government to tax something.

Hmm....I hesitate to register them mostly because it would be impossible to enforce, there just too many out there.
However I do feel there are serious privacy issues associated with there use.

What is a drone, remote controlled airplanes have been around a long time. Typically there are ceilings ~5,000 feet AGL or so that they are not allowed to fly above, or in restricted airspace. Any aircraft would need to be registered on those facts alone, I see no difference between a remote controlled airplane and a piloted aircraft.

Drones used for commerce is a different matter and will need to be regulated.
